I was wondering how competitive it would be to run a 5 man spirit seer council, with one of the seers having the upgrade for healing wraiths, and use the 3 heavy slots for 3 wraithlords, probably either dual starcannons or starcannon/bright lance. Your troops would be wraithguard in waveserpents.

Also, modeling question, would you allow wraithblades w/ shield/ sword and robes to be used as a seer council?

Modeling question...it depends on Tourney Organizers to decide that if competitive. If fluffy and casual and doesn't confuse me as to what is what, I'd be fine with that.

The biggest problem you'll have with taking 5 Seers *AND* 3 Wraithlords is not having many points left over for anything else - particularly those all-important Troops, which as Wraithguard/Blades are already quite expensive. Take a good hard look at the number of Wraith units that would benefit from Spirit Marks and Battle Focus, and ask yourself - do I *really* need 5? Will 3, or even 2 do?

How many points are we talking about, and what else is in the list...?

Personally, I'd think this was cool, but in a tournament setting and perhaps against others it's not likely to fly. You have a number of issues - different model size, different base size, different weapons (Seers don't get the shields...) and possible confusion with other Wraith models in the list. If it's to be accepted, you really need to pull the stops out on the modelling.

Well, Wraithlords are still not much better than in previous editions. Their damage output is too low and in cc (if they ever get there) they have too less attacks. They are useful to stall flankers with their flamers and high T in cc.

I have been hard at work on elfzilla as well. I tried 3 WL but found that it left too big a hole in the army. I settled on two as the D-Scythes alone seemed insufficient to deal with infantry.

I am presently using

Spiritseer
Avatar w fast shot
5 WG w scythe in WS with holofield SC and SL
5 WG in WS w BL
Crimson Hunter w exarch
WL w star cannon and flamers
WL w BL glaive and flamers
Fire prism

That comes to exactly 1500 and provides a hard list as only the flyer and spiritseer have any fear of small arms and everything hits fairly hard. If you want the broader psychic powers the avatar could be replaced by two more spirit seers and some more WL equipment.

As to converting WG into spiritseers I think it would be a cool project. Since the WG are way taller I can't imagine why it wouldn't be allowed as long as they were on the correct bases. No one can argue you are modeling for advantage as long as the are clearly distinguishable
