However century after century, the enemies of man grow ever so strong and Humanity is in dire need of defenders. Founded on 01.06.2011 Vigilia Mortis is an adult-fan-based Chapter made up of Warhammer and PC gaming fans. Whiting our community you will find gamers, hobbyists, readers, writers or simply fans all bonded by their love for the 41st millennium. We're a Chapter inspired by the principals of Deathwatch, we seek to honour the God Emperor by facing every challenge whoever the enemy or the battlefield. Vigilia Mortis was founded with the upcoming Dark Millennium Online in mind but it was soon cancelled as the studio that developed the game went out of business. Now we’re preparing out next great adventure into the tides of war with the upcoming 40k MMORPG: ETERNAL CRUSADE. Our mission in this game is to become the dominate force on our server and beat back any foe that dare raise it weapons to the Imperium, with force and righteousness we shall prevail in the Emperors name.


In our Chapter you will find people playing all sorts of 40K games (Space Marine, Dawn of War series) you will meet role-players, readers, writers and fluff debaters (for some epic lore jousts!); tabletop players (discussing army lists, rules or painting techniques; showing their work...); all of that with great comradeship and awful jokes over our voice comms! We have a fully active site and forums for members to post anything, and allow us to set up events where everyone can have a good time and bond. For a more "interactive” gaming and non-gaming experience we use our voice communication server; so even if you are not in the mood for a game, you can just stay a while and chat. We work as well on other programs such as maptools or Roll 20 in order to make role-playing scenarios or play an online fan-version of 40k tabletop.


When Vigilia Mortis was founded we wanted to create a Chapter which was our own, something we could create our own lore and attract members who wanted to play as their favourite legion, we discussed about going down the Deathwatch route but decided it wouldn't be in our best interests because we wanted to set ourselves up as a Chapter and implement a Chapter ranking structure so members who dedicate themselves can progressive and make themselves known. We decided to come up with an idea based off Deathwatch, a Chapter that takes in members from other Chapters, think of as the early stages of the Grey Knight order when they explored the galaxy to gather the best Astartes for their cause. We have that same idea but set in the current 41st timeline. When you apply for Vigilia Mortis you will be asked to select your Chapter, below you can see some of the banners that will appear on the forum, each members represents their favourite loyalist Chapter:



Joining Vigilia Mortis means becoming a battle brother, OUR battle brother; it means proclaiming your passion for the grim dark future in whatever means/activities you enjoy, and sharing it with your brothers! Upon joining us you will choose a chapter to represent you and will be given a rank that will evolve rapidly if your commitment is true. We are advancing all together to build something the Emperor himself would be proud of! The only question left is: will you be part of it?

What games do you play?

We play all 40K games like Dawn Of War, Space Marine or the upcoming Space Hulk, Armageddon and we await Eternal Crusade with great anticipation!
However we also enjoy other games like the Arma franchise, Warframe, Guild Wars 2, Planetside 2, Blood Bowl. If you play any multiplayer pc game; there is likely a member of Vigilia Mortis that can play with you!

Do you have other activities?

On our Website and Teamspeak, we also enjoy several other activities more or less related to 40K:

You can roleplay with us via our forums; enter a Dark Heresy campaign, a Deathwatch RP group or some classic D&D. You can write some fan-made stories and have us give you friendly opinions and advises. If you are an artist of any sort and level, you can also share your work with us, interact with others about styles and techniques. Big surprise; we are great fans of 40K tabletop! With us you can share your army lists, discuss strategies and rumors. You can even play an online game using a fan-made program!

Do you plan regular activities? Gaming nights?

We try to organize 40K related gaming nights (Space Marine Exterminatus, DoW battles) on a regular basis. However we can also sometimes simply have fun on another game and hang around as a chapter. We really emphasize on the group rather than the game. As mentioned before, we also have roleplaying nights, and of course we can also just stay on teamspeak and talk about nothing for hours!

However, as Eternal Crusade approaches, we will gradually focus our efforts towards it

You seem quite thrilled by Eternal Crusade. Do you plan on being competitive?

Needless to say we have great expectations for Eternal Crusade! Although it is too early to define what will be our action, you can be certain that we will be very present in the game and provide a great effort to make our chapter well-known in the EC community!

I am not a pro-gamer, fluff bible, RP adept, tabletop wizard but I like 40K; can I still apply?

Like we said earlier, we welcome anyone who wants to share his passion for 40K with us! It is true that we have great plans for Eternal Crusade; however we will not force you to play 12h per day! We are a gathering of brothers, each with his own interests and talents! And we value that. As long as you participate you will be worthy to be our brother!

We're all about fun, we do the companies because we have people from all different timezones so we put them into a company depending on their timezone

The game is still a dream far, far away in the future, so it would be great to join once we have some insurance it's actually happening. Our dream of a 40k MMO is a hard one to achieve

Good to see, we know the game is so far off, some of us don't really want to get too excited because we've had our hearts broken once! We currently playing any game that looks interesting to pass the time for EC - Space Marine, DoW series, Planetside 2, Guild Wars 2 etc.

What’s with the hostility?

The application form is find out information about the person who wants to join and see if they would fit with us, I can’t see why you think it mirrors an employer – we just ask stuff about what is your favourite Chapter etc. If you'd take a second to know us you'll learn were some of the most down to earth people you would meet...

Contrary to ^that^ dude's reaction, the application form is really basic, but the people in VM are beyond cool. If you're a WH40K fan, this is one heck of a group. I've been with them for a little over a month now and I'm loving it.

There's really only one requirement... be loyal to the Emperor...

Loyalty has never been a strong suit of mine...

There a large US West contingent there? I'd probably just stay with EXE from PS2 and try and get them to move some of their base to EC when it comes out if not...

Speak of the devil - i'm U.S. West. California boy here. I surf and say dude a lot...

I'm not sure how many more are west, but we have plenty of U.S. people, which will make for a solid U.S. TZ group.

Im mid west right now and been with VM for a very long time now. Tons of great people and fun times! gotta love the Arma times... when ever valrak drives.
