So I'm looking to get a small CSM force built around Rubic Marines, but am worried about the colour scheme. There's nothing wrong with the classic blue/gold of the Thousand Sons, but it is too close to my Ultrasmurfs. Perhaps I should get a new shade of blue and gold for my CSM? I currently use flat Macragge blue and the old Burnished Gold on my Ultras. The models will most likely be two squads of Rubics, a Termie sorcerer, oblitorators, and terminators. Any recommendations?

Go for a shade darker blue or maybe give it a purple wash. A sepia/brown wash on the gold to make it look a little older/tarnished?

I would go for brighter blue.

I always imagine the tzeentch logo being made out of bright blue crystal. One of those fantasy magic stereotypes.

Why not keep pre-heresy TS armor? It was red and gold. Should definitely be distinctive enough, and keep accurate with the background.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

If you think your important, in the great scheme of things. Do the water test.

Put your hands in a bucket of warm water,
then pull them out fast. The size of the hole shows how important you are.
I think we should roll some dice, to see if we should roll some dice, To decide if all this dice rolling is good for the game.

+ 1. Always imagined the TS with some very bright blue.

I'd argue for a mix of both. Use a darker (almost midnight or navy) blue for the base, but highlight up to an almost icy blue as in that logo and do details in the same colour. Blend it, if you have the skill.

Something like this:

You could also reverse the scheme, so that gold is the main colour and the blue is used for details. Though I'm not keen on the style this model's pieces result in, the colour scheme is solid:

The red and gold isn't just pre-heresy, it's Magnusite - if you want to have your Thousand Sons actually worshipping Tzeentch, it turns out, they should be red and gold.

I agree with super ready. I'd have them be gold with blue, rather than blue with gold.

This scheme catches my attention, and would surely stand out from my ultras on the shelf and the table

What gold paint should I use for this? If I had to do most of my models in burnished gold, I'd drive myself insane with how many times I'd have to go over a model.
