mephy wrecks non power fist squads of marines. There are fabmore deadly Hq's around though like scarbrand and swarmy. Although I hate to see abbadon I truly despise seeing Typhus or farsight (usually because the armies they are with are fething annoying!).

Yeah, or I can just shoot the marines with plasma and be done with it. Can Mephiston justify his pricetag over something like a model that's 150 pts less that can make squads reroll all misses for the whole game potentially?

Mephiston counters the living daylights out of any MC without 2+ (i.e. most of them) armour though.

That's actually a good point, Mephiston would waste a Wraithknight.

Yes this is the main reason I include him often in my lists. With his high Init, ap 3, and force weapon, he often kills them before they can even swing.

The fact that he mangles non TEQs on the reg is a bonus.

He is also great at blowing through high toughness high wound count tarpits, like spawn and plague bearers. I once had him counter assault a unit of 5 spawn and my opponent had to pick up his uber tarpit unit in one assault phase, twas fun.

One more thing to consider about Mephiston is his large assault threat bubble, he will often influence your opponents movement and deployment and it is hard to give that a points value.
