As an eldar player too, I would bring more jetbikes with a jetbike farseer and another warlock for shrouded. Give them more warlocks for cool abilities or a guaranteed 2+ on turbo boosts, and singing spears for S9 vs vehicles.
I like the wave serpents but only 5 dire avengers?
I think they have been nerfed since the new release as the no longer have bladestorm or defend, and they are more expensive. I would drop the dire avengers for 10 more guardians or storm guardians with flamers.
Falcon is not my favorite any more but i see the firedragon falcon combo, however more safe in a wave serpent. Dispite wasting carrying capacity.
The Wave serpent shield is amazing, spam it. with eggs.
Cheers.
BTW any halfway decent tau player will rape the bejeebies out of your flyer, i would
def not take that. Its a glass cannon a fire warrior can shoot out of the sky. Take some warpspiders and have some serous fun for an alternative fast attack. Not to mention EVERYONE and their cousin takes a quad gun aegis line.
Fortunately, I have a Jetbike warlock, he just ended up staying at home this time because at 55 points, he ends up usually being a very expensive jetbiker that fails his psychic powers 1/2 the time. I've had games where he never got Conceal off! I figured I'd try the list without him in trying to make room for the fire dragons.
I also have a Jetbike Farseer and 4 more Dire Avengers, they just need painting and I don't want to hurt my paint score. I would consider more Guardians, potentially, they certainly are not bad.
I first wanted the Dire Avengers as a bodyguard for the Farseer to ride in the Falcon (if I roll Fortune/Guide on the Farseer, the Falcon becomes a nigh unwreckable Chariot of twin-linked fun), but then I saw I could make it an even 2000 pts if I took one more Dire Avenger, so it threw that outta wack.

I can see the "Dangers" of bringing my flyer, but I like so far the added anti tank and special anti-flyer rules. I have yet to see it shot down due to it's 3 hull points. I have heard the horror stories of the Marker-Light now, though :(. I miss my Warp Spiders, I had some a few years ago but I let them go when I sold my first Eldar Army. Maybe I will get more to complement the foot list I am slowly building up. The other tough part is I KNOW I will be seeing a few Helldrakes at this tournament, and at armor 12, I really don't have a better option against a Hell Drake than the Crimson Hunter. I wouldn't want to replace my Flyer with an
ADL either, because my army's mobility does not mesh well with a static defense line.
ninjafiredragon wrote:Agreed about the dire avengers. Take 10, or none. And I think none is better than ten. Guardians with warlock and a
BL. It works.
Also agreed about falcon and dragons. Drop falcon, take serpent. Serpents are freaking ausome. Everything will burn after serpents are done. Everything.........
The think about Falcons vs WaveSerpents, is there is a real difference in effectiveness between Strength 8 and Strength 7. Also, being able to bring 4 guaranteed AP2 shots is great Power Armor/Terminator insurance to help soften any tough bodies out there. And although I see the value of taking lots of what's good (I could have fielded 3 Fire Prisms, If I wanted), I also know that I enjoy having some variety in my units so I can respond to different situations. Plus, if I take a foot Farseer as I am today, I tend to want to give him a Falcon to ride around willy-nilly in.
...
I think in future editions of this list I will definitely put my Jetbike Farseer and Warlock on Jetbike back into the army, along with more Dire Avengers, and probably drop either the Fire Dragons or the Wraithguard, replacing the solo Falcon with a 3rd Fire Prism (that way I can guide/prescience 2 of them every turn

). The other challenging choice for the future is if I want to bring my Seer Council, which I have 5 more so far on Jetbikes that are 90% converted but 0% painted. I know they can be badass if I roll lucky but I have no idea if they will actually bring it like they did in the old edition due to the lack of guaranteed Fortune and the random power situation in general. I could convert up 5 more ... but that's another project and army in it's own right.

Unfortunately, it was a toss up between Fire Dragons and Wraithguard. to make the points even, I kept the Wraithguard and had to fudge out one Dire Avenger to keep all the vehicle upgrades I didn't want to cut. It should work pretty, well, though.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I guess a could min/max the list and drop Dire Avengers for the Fire Dragons ... but I just don't want only 2 Troop choices.
