Hello everyone. On my quest to figure out my 2nd army I have pointed up a few lists as I have narrowed it down to the x4 armies I am considering: Orks, Tau, Tyranids and finally now Eldar. I have always been a fan of the Swooping Hawks and their fluff and wanted to do a list built around them as my primariy units. I have tested this list out once and in doing so was able to stomp a Tau player. This is the list I put together and since this was my first attempt at this kind of Eldar list I wanted to see what you guys think, as usual any comments, thoughts or ideas are welcome. Thanks Guys!

HQ:

-Farseer *Warlord*
*w/ Singing Spear

-Autarch
*w/ Jetbike, Fusion Gun, Scorpion Claw, Mantle of the Laughing God, Banshee Mask

TROOPS:

-x5 Dire Avengers
-Wave Serpent
*w/ Scatter Laser, Shuriken Cannon, Holo Fields

-x5 Dire Avengers
-Wave Serpent
*w/ Scatter Laser, Shuriken Cannon, Holo Fields

-x10 Guardian Defenders (*Farseer Goes Here*)
*w/ Scatter Laser

-x3 Jetbikes *In Reserve*

-x3 Jetbikes *In Reserve*

FAST ATTACK:

-x9 Swooping Hawks
-x1 Swooping Hawk Exarch
*w/ Sunrifle

-x9 Swooping Hawks
-x1 Swooping Hawk Exarch
*w/ Sunrifle

-x9 Swooping Hawks
-x1 Swooping Hawk Exarch
*w/ Sunrifle

HEAVY SUPPORT:

-Fire Prism
*w/ Shuriken Catapults, Holo Fields

-Fire Prism
*w/ Shuriken Catapults, Holo Fields

FORTIFICATIONS:

-Aegis Defense Line
*w/ Quad Gun

Tactics and Experience:

-The Farseer sits with the Guardian Defender squad and stays safe behind the Aegis Defense Line manning the Quad Gun. My Autarch does what he does best which is either zoom forward and snipe a vehicle or get into combat and do some nasty damage (did both to the Tau player).

-The Dire Avengers stay safe inside their Wave Serpents as they do what they do best which is blast anything that comes near them and shake off any and all shots at them. Though I only had two my opponent was unable to bring them down, these things are tough!

-My Jetbikes are split into two squads with the standard x3 man jetbike squads sitting in reserve to come in late and take objectives. The x10 Guardian Defenders with the Scatter laser (am thinking about a Bright Lance) are sitting behind the Aegis defense Line with the Quad Gun babysitting the Farseer.

-x30 Swooping Hawks which form the backbone and fluff of my list, and these guys are AWESOME! I know everyone touts the Warp Spiders and for good reason, but these guys did very well for me. Coming in thanks to their grenade packs I was able to drop x3 large blast templates and on top of that with blind I was able to survive the return fire and did alot of damage wiping out x2 full Fire Warrior squads with the third squad targetting the nearest unit that could do the most damage with return fire. Next turn (turn 3) I jumped back up and did it once again in turn 4, its alot of fun!

-x2 Fire Prisms sitting back sniping armor and shooting at monstrous creatures (both of these brought down his Riptide over the course of three turns). These things are so versitile I think I will continue to take these over the Wraith knights.

Seems like a very fluffy list, however to start I would put that you have a Aegis Defense Line in your list so no one gets confused. Besides that, the idea of 3x units dropping in whereever they want is pretty scary, and certain armies will suffer for it, but there will be lists that will eat this Army for lunch so your have to be careful who you fight. Glad to see someone using Swooping Hawks, as I think they are some of the best models and too many Eldar players right them off for Warp Spiders, but it depends on your list and I think they fit it well. Only thing Im wondering about it the lack of Air Defense, as though you have a quad gun, you are still very limited on Anti-Air, and I don't think your Jet Bikes need to be in reserve, as all you really need is to keep them out of sight till the last turn.

I don't have new codex yet but are you sure the autarch can take a scorpion claw? They could never before take exarch weapons and the scorpion claw is the best of them.

Apart from that everything works out well, but I would drop hawks down to 6/7 because that's all you need for the large blast. The extra bodies are just a few more flash lights. You would also want to drop shuri cannons on Fire Prisms because if they are in range, things aren't going well for you because they shouldn't be that close the enemy. With extra points grab yourself a warlock to go with guardians for conceal, giving you a lovely 2+ cover save with shrouded and 4+ from ADL.

the scorpions claw isn't on the list of options for the Autarch to take. maybe scorpion chainsword is what he meant, but that's it.
