My Zoanthrope shoots spontaneous combustion at a tank. What happens?

"There is a cancer eating at the Imperium. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose that functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bioengineered monsters it unleashes upon us by instinct. We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."

Hmm tough one. Theres no clarification in the rulebook how to treat "wounds" on vehicles. Also i cant find a restriction to cast it on vehicles.

One reference could be the faq for weapon emplacements

Page 105 – Battlefield Debris, Gun Emplacement
Change the first sentence of the second paragraph to “One
non-vehicle model in base contact with the gun
emplacement can fire it instead of his own weapon,
following the normalrules forshooting. Note that the model
counts as stationary forthese purposes”.

Point is that it shows that they wrote model in the original rule but meant "non-vehicle". On the other hand it shows you need a particular exception to not be able to read "model" as also including vehicles.

A better reference would be that they changed Dominate since (most) Vehicles don't have a Ld value:
Reference Section – Telepathy, Dominate.
Change the first sentence of the second paragraph to read
“Dominate is a malediction that targets a single non-vehicle
enemy unit within 24".”

This is likely a similar situation that is yet to be FAQ'd. Vehicles cannot suffer wounds, and are removed when they loose all their HP's not Wounds.

Works for me, just was curious if by technicality, it would remove a hull point rather than a wound, or simply do absolutely nothing, like expected.

Zoanthropes can't get spontaneous combustion I believe. We don't have access to Pyromancy I thought.

We don't. Biomancy, Telepathy, and Telekinesis only. Of course I, never rolled on anything but Bio for my nids. One of these days I need to try the other tables.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Correct, Spontaneous Combustion only removes Wounds and hull Points are not Wounds.

It will "simply do absolutely nothing, like expected."

Just had a look at the power and putting my vote firmly in the "it does nothing" camp. To have any effect against vehicles it would need a separate statement. Telepathy's Psychic Shriek is also in the same boat, for what it's worth, and I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting.

Wait what? I swore Pyro was on the list of Nid schools. Crap, just double checked. Now I have to admit great shame to my gaming group. Excuse me while I perform remorseful defenestration upon myself.
