Subject: Any equivalents for the OLD GW inks?

Gryphonne Sepia? Nuln Oil? BAAAAH!!! They're sad mockeries of what simply used to be the GW Brown Ink, Chestnut Ink, Black Washes etc. I found half a bottle of some sacred Brown Ink over the weekend, but came to the realization that one day I will run out. Can anybody recommend inks that give good coverage with great ink density? I've tried Vallejo brown wash, and though I like the color (having a weird almost pantina-ish hue) I wasn't impressed by the coverage. Thoughts anyone?

You may want to go there or find someone locally who stocks Coat D'arms.

professional acryl inks have a pretty damn high density if you are looking for this but they are by no means "washes" they are inks.
I rarely use them in my airbrush but rather to finish or "blacklining" stuff. Plus you can dilute them to make them "washes".

I may not have been clear. The link I posted is to the company who made the old inks. They are supposed to be functionally identical.

Just to make this more clear. The Coat D'arms has a conversion chart that shows the exact GW name, as taopaipai18 posted: 133 Ink wash - Flesh = Flesh Wash 134 Ink wash - Green = Orc Flesh Wash 135 Ink wash - Blue = Blue Wash 136 Ink wash - Brown = Brown Wash 137 Ink wash - Chestnut = Chestnut Wash 138 Ink wash - Red = Red Wash

In reality they're not 100% the same as the last lot of GW inks that were replaced by the washes. I can tell you from experience CDA Brown ink is closer to chestnut ink. Automatically Appended Next Post:
They're not the same. They have a hell of a lot more pigment to them. Whilst they are amazing; a replacement for the GW inks they are not. Trust me. I went through many many inks with trail and error to try and find a replacement for chestnut ink.

Yes, the Vallejo inks have more pigment than the old GW inks so they are not exactly the same thing, but the colors are right and they can easily be thinned for the desired pigment concentration.
