So, this has been going on for over 4 hours now. I don't know if any of you find this interesting but thought I'd share.

http://www.twitch.tv/mad_ani/new

Over 2000 ships in the engagement right now.

I don't play the game but I've always found the insane stuff that happens in that game amusing.

Yeah, it's the biggest fight they've had in at least 6 months.

I do miss EVE

Massive fleet battles are amazing think the biggest I ever did was about 1k

But the most fun I had was when I FCed 200 cap ships!

Shred City.

I played EVE for a while, but then lost all interest after I worked like 6 months for a ship and then lost everything in one encounter. I did get insurance obviously but some weapons and stuff weren't even close to compensated for.

Too hardcore a game for me.

I believe Battle of Asakai from a few months back still holds the record. Pals from my old Alliance started that one. lol. Staying out of this one...

Wasn't the last big one caused by one guy's misclick?

Also I've tried to get into eve but I was never able to fall in with a good group of people. As such it was a bit boreing going it alone.

Welp, it's over and done. Mods can either lock this, or turn it into a general EVE thread if people are interested. Actually downloading the trial now (I never actually played it). Gonna give it a spin this week,

Yeah. Some guy jumped his Titan (largest ship in game, worth several thousand USD) to the other system instead opening a wormhole bridge for his support fleet to go through. The fleet on the other side "tackled" it and pinned it down with interdiction ships.

I enjoyed EVE a bit, I really liked the concept of the game, but I just did not have the time to devote to it that was needed. Most PVP I was involved in was small corp pirate stuff in low sec. Never even made it into Null Sec.

Apparently CCP was trying to remap/reinforce the system node and some tech pressed the red 'do not press' button, nuked a 6 hour fight right in the ass.

Even the alliance (Test) that was losing admitted that it was a lame move given that it's been the second time something like this has happened, saving the losing side.

Either way, I was in game when everyone was posting the twitchfeed links, the whole game knew what was going on yesterday. That's just cool.

I'm currently playing Skill Training Online, as I can't seem to let go of my character or stop the progress. Used to play a lot back in '08-'10, but haven't played much besides a month or two spurt of activity.

Great game in theory and practice, I just don't have the time to commit to it. Much easier to boot up World of Tanks and immediately hit BATTLE for 5-15mins of pew-pew with no delay.

Ah well, anybody looking to start up the game, leave me a mail and I can hook you up with some ISK to buy your first frigate or cruiser. Maybe go get it blown up by pirates if you'd like. Same name here in-game.

Very interesting combat, but not my type of game - space games are the most boring games I can think of and I simply lack the time to invest in such a game.

I do so adore EVE. It pretty much consumed my life a couple years ago until I realized I wasn't actually doing schoolwork anymore.

I still buy a month every once and a while. Unfortunately my character sheet is pretty much a list of all the most boring/least useful ships in the game (seriously, I maxed electronic attack ships and exhumers). Kind of painted myself in a corner on that one.

I just got kind of sick of forcing my Drake through lvl 4 missions since that was pretty much the only thing I was qualified to do. I still have a Tengu and all the T3 books waiting for me if I ever go back again...but now I'll have to train heavy assault missiles and still won't be good for anything but missions and ECM.

Probably didn't help that I was in an industrial corp out in solitude (imagine an island of civility in the middle of lowsec with absolutely no market). I remember once when the 3 of us who actually liked PVP just randomly ganked someone next door in lowsec. still one of the most fun things I've done in a video game.

If I could just get involved with a group of people that lived in lowsec (heck, or null) and did exploration/random acts of piracy I think I'd actually start playing again. I had great fun in wormholes, memories of me and a couple corp buddies making 300 mill in a single day just by hitting low class wormholes and salvaging nanoribbons.

I havent played in a few years, i think the largest engagement i was ever involved in was about 300 vs 300, i dont know whats changed since then, but back in those days fleet battles were over in minutes. FC would call primary secondary and tertiary, by the time and those three ships would disappear in a second, rinse and repeat until someone retreated or there was nothing left to shoot. Its kind of unexciting and anticlimactic when you have two fleets show up to a fight and both just sit at optimal going down the list one ship at a time. I always wished the battles were more cinematic, more like something out of star wars with ships maneuvering for position and trading shots.

i also went the exhumer and freighter route one of my characters, the other was an ity 5 hauler account. The corp i was with made ships so we often would have corp mining events, but when solo mining it was really booring untill some player would try to steal from me and get owned by my drones.

I tried EVE once a while back and found it a little too overwhelming for me.. that and I couldn't figure out how to increase the font size and it annoyed me, cuz I had a high res monitor and the text was super tiny.

I downloaded it a couple months back for my Macbook, and it didn't work, I couldn't get it to start up at all :( Planning on getting a big 27" imac soon so maybe I'll try then...
