Hey

I keep seeing people recommending to take the black mace on the Daemon Prince but why wouldn't you take the axe of blind fury? Surely AP4 isn't that great?

Could someone enlighten me on this?

Plus, the Mace doesn't require you to be a Daemon of Khorne, allowing you to grab Tzeentch or Nurgle, which is generally better.

I'm glad overall with this as this means I am planning on running the prince with the mace and a lord with the axe on a jugga with some spawns to help

Smash overrides the AP of a weapon unless it would be improved to AP1.

The mace models for CSM terminators are a bit oversized for the terminators. They'd be perfect for a demon prince if you've got some knife and GS skills. It would also be really easy to mount the mace on a longer haft if you wanted to.

Well, due to the way monstrous creatures work, their attacks are always AP2, regardless of the AP of their weapon. So imagine the black mace is AP2, and it makes for a hugely scary weapon.

Unless said weapon is AP1, in which case their attacks would be AP1.

Not quite.

The AP is always 2 unless the weapon itself is AP1.

Think of it like this. The attack actually has 2 APs, that of the weapon and that of being a MC. You use whichever is better. Which will be the MC AP2 unless the weapon is AP1.

What everyone else is saying but
personally I think for the points. I think the best DP builds are
Nurgle, Wings, brand lvl 2. (Take the pyromancy primaris) Go nuts, that is a very annoying DP for 250ptish

So you think you're tough, eh?

What I did for the mace was take the sword that came with the kit, cut the blade to a square, make a ball of green stuff on the end and jab sharpened sprue bits into it in a random fashion.

Don't forget that power armor too, ive always found it worth the investment especially for saving from grounding.

The Power Armour does nothing to save you from Grounding Tests.

I don't remember if grounding only allows invuls or not, but if you fail a grounding test, you are still not flying anymore even if you pass the save.

You can take an Inv save but not armor save, so at best you're looking at a 5++.

The faceplant is Str9 AP2 IIRC. And grounding tests are caused by hits, not wounds.

Still, 3+ armor is a good purchase to make your expensive guy more durable vs small arms.

wow, thats a harder hit than I remember. Also we have been doing it wrong oh well, lesson learned. I will still buy it, as you said those DPs absorb quite a bit of early bolter rounds

One thing to be careful with DP of Nurgle is Slow and Purposeful. He goes from wiping entire units easy with his I8 sweeping advance to being stuck for multiple turns in CC with the same unit.

You could look for the battering ram from one of the old LOTR kits (one that came with bomb and torch weilding beserkers).... the end of the ram would make a really cool looking base
