omg, so this game. I've not been angry at many games until I played Borderlands 2 and this game. Borderlands 2 turned out to be fun. But, this effing game.

I guess this game is designed to make you fail. That's it. Thats what the Devs wanted, to punish you. Make you feel like you're a desperate survivor of a zombie apocalypse scenario. Ok, I get it. The've succeeded. OMG what a difficult game!

My only question is how do you fuel that stupid car in the mall, and how much gameplay is left4ded2 after that event?

Because, I haven't seen gameplay after the car in the mall. Many attempts, last game was with all Spanish-speaking gamers. Mi es malo. Muy Malo.

I suck at this game. I've been trying to fuel that god damn car for a while, and it aint going nowhere.

This game, I want to like it, but it's just not fun. There's a reason Steam is selling it for 5 dollars, and it's not because its an outstanding game.

I mean, maybe if you could level up somehow, and instead of being a random character in another random desperate zombie struggle for survival, this game could have been enjoyable. But in the end, I really regret spending even 5 dollars on this. I could have bought another shade of Citadel hot pink for that money, for Emperor's Sake!

Rambling, but is anyone enjoying this? Is this game turdburger? Or awesome and I suck at FPS?

I just grab a bunch of the fuel cans and dump them around the car, then pour them in one by one.

As for bad players... well the AI sucks but the steam workshop does have a mod or two to make the AI decent. By default they love to shoot through you to hit the enemy...

Seriously, I never thought the game was particularly hard. Not like, say... Bleed. Or the Tenchu series.

filling the car is easy, just hold down the left mouse when you are carrying a gas can next to the filler cap. EASY!

This game has been out for a few years now and is still 30 dollars usually, so to say it sucks so there selling it for 5 bucks is pretty silly.

How is the game hard exactly? Are you playing in single player or co op, if so whats the difficulty at? Are you playing VS? If so of course its hard, you are playing with people who have most likely been playing awhile.

All of the Valve games have a pretty big following, I turned on L4D1 last week on my 360 and had no problem finding and playing 4 matches with 4 different groups. I bought L4D2 for my 360 for 10 bucks since it was on sale yesterday and I have played it to death when it came out.

Not sure about that. I'm playing standard, random games, and as soon as everyone goes down the elevator to fetch the gas cans, its total chaos, everyon running in random directions, and ultimately a failed mission

No I get how to fuel the car, but how does a random game of 4 random people on the interwebz successfully fuel said car? As soon as everyone goes down the elevator, every game I've been randomly matched in goes completely crazy, with the players randomly running in different directions, aggroing massive amounts of zombies, getting killed, constantly running out of ammo, aggro the major mobs, and just generally ending gameplay at this mission in particlar. With most players I've seen rage-quitting at this mission.

Literally I've not seen gameplay beyond this mission, because of the randomness of the player matching, the erratic movement of the players the game matches you with, and how seemingly difficult it is to get those gas tanks. I'm sick of this mission, and it's multiple, patient attempts and every attempt seems to fall apart on this mission.

yeah that happens a lot because they don't know how to play.

just find a group of people who are good at the game that you know, and you'll be fine. personally I only like dead center because of the gun store. just move on and do the passing next - that one also has a scavenge mission, but those are the only two in the game! ('cept for the sacrifice in LFD1).

Maybe that's the problem. I do the random matching on Steam. Every time we sail through the missions until the car fueling, by that time several people have quit, then we go down the elevator, and it all goes to hell. Everyone just runs in random, different directions, no communication, everyone engages zombies solo, maybe 1-2 players help each other out, no one guards someone while fueling the car, and if you try to fuel the car at this point in a game like this, you die immediately.

There's nothing trollish about it. It's not really a hard game.

How to beat l4d2

step 1. Stay together to survive
step 2. Stay together to survive
step 3. Stay together to survive
step 4. profit.

Constantly runnin out of ammo? Using a shotgun? If you are then don't pick either silenced smg, ak47 or brown sniper rifle. Auto shotguns have few specialized scenarios where they are usefull.

Hard time filling up the gas can? Throw a pipe or bile to distract common zombies and try not to get boomed.

l4d2 has a pretty stable community so there is activity after events but getting realism or expert games is tricky.

If you need help getting through the first campaing you can add me as a friend.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

yup that's some pretty useful advice actually, no one starts off as a good LFD player, it takes more than a few games to get there. I just got a friend who bought the 5 dollar copy too, and it is very frustrating to try to train him when he can't shoot straight and when he constantly gets incapacitated.

a good rookie weapon is probably a SMG or m16, cos they have the most ammo and you don't have to be a good shot to use them. you won't find much use for pump shotguns till you are better at the game, and auto ones just run out of ammo real fast, so avoid them if possible.

Stick to your teammates like glue.

I've had pub games where all I did was shoot zombies off of oblivious players' backs and still pulled out a win.

If you watch their back enough, they tend to notice. Especially after the 5th time you've saved them from a smoker, or given them pills.

Another tip is to play random games with your mic on and build a "pool" of friends to play with. Eventually you'll get enough where you'll almost always have enough people for a full team that will help each other out and communicate, and that can do wonders for beating a campaign. Its hard to explain how much fun this game is with a good team of friends, or those fun ones where you just stumble into a great team at random through matchmaking. Just keep your mic on, be friendly, and help your team as much as possible.

I love L4D2. I'd be happy to jump on and help, if you're playing on Xbox Live. Depends on my roomie situation at the moment. Their house, their tv, their living room and I'm a guest for the next two weeks. If I am able to jump on though, I'd love to help. It's an amazing game, but some of the "boss" rounds can be rough. Are you playing on normal or insane? I still lose occasionally on normal-I haven't dared insane, and I've owned it for 2 years.

Like Borderlands 2, L4D2 is one of those games best played with a group of friends. Which is again, probably why you are not having fun.

Everyone running off and doing their own thing is not the best thing to do in L4D2, especially if you're new. Like what other people said, stick together with people. There is safety in numbers, especially when you're on your back with a large group of infected trying to rip your eyes out.

You may want to try some of the other modes out, like Scavenge mode. Basically it's 4 vs 4 where you have a group of survivors trying to fill up a generator with gas canisters scattered all over against a group of special infected players. I find that to be more enjoyable if I'm playing with a random pick-up group.

Communication is critical. If you're playing a pickup game, you NEED to be talking to the other players and I do mean actually talking...not just being silent in a chat window.
I usually use Skype but L4D2 does have in-game chat and it's usually pretty obvious if anyone isn't listening in on it.

In particular, make sure you make it clear where you're going if you're up front or planning on going off to one side to get something. If you strike out alone without warning the others, the AI will pick on you.

I feel complete opposite about communication. Most of the time you can hear where the special zombies have spawned. If somebody is mumbling something to the chat it tends to distract the players even if it is usefull chat. Also AI tends give plenty of warning via sound before attacking.

A good zombie player attacks the second he spawns and screaming "CHARGER!" to the chat wont help anyone but hearing where that charger is might just save you.

I've found the opposite to your opposite.
Good zombie players (who are themselves communicating!) will gather up and formulate a joint attack, otherwise the roles are reversed and against a good team of survivors they'll get picked off too easily.
There are also problems with relying on the character's own voices in-game to get warnings. First is that it's localised, so if another survivor is far enough away they won't hear the warning. There are also ambient noises that you can pick up on from, say, a nearby Spitter or Jockey that hasn't roved into line of sight yet and so won't get called out by the game (Witches and Tanks do, mind). Communicating that you can hear a particular type of infected nearby prepares everyone.

It is a realy good game you just need to stay with it. I actualy think the game missions them selfs are lacking compared to the hundreds of chapters you can download and play.

One of my best memories of this game was on a Downloaded campaighne. You walk into the last safe house. and written of the wall was "I wish Chuck Norris was here" and underneath that "Chuck Norris does not simply COME HERE".

Also There is a space hulk mod for tha game as well. It can be a little buggy still. but each update makes it better and better.

Playing the online game can be hard work sometimes. Every one seems to have the COD mentality nowdays, where its all vs all and they just try to get the most ammount of kills rather than playing the objectives with other players. BF3 has been ruined as well because of this. The game is 10X better when you can play with a group of friends. It becomes more about teamwork than trying to score points. And you tend to have a much better time of it.

If you just want to play the main game story mission play it in offline mode first. Then play it online.
