Subject: Trygons or dakkafexes?

I'm a relatively new Tyranid-player and when I bought my current army, everyone was saying "Trygons is the gak!", so I got a few trygons. Now, in my meta I mostly fight against Tau, IG, Eldar and Necrons. Its pretty gunlineheavy. Usually, my Trygons have only filled the function of major distractions, no different if I run them across the board or if I deep strike. They take a lot of firepower and then they die, usually before they can hit anything. The only damage they do is from their shooting. So, I'm thinking, would'nt dakkafexes be better in my meta? At least their firepower counts for something before they die. Anyone with a similar experience who would like to share thoughts on this? For the record, the rest of my army follows the usual template, flyrants, tervigons and so on.

Are you unable to use Biovores? They make ADL and directional cover camping armies with a less than MEQ save like the Tau, Guard, Eldar, and Necrons very sad.

Not to sure about Dakkafexxes but if your fighting lots of gunline armies why not Mawlocs? Those guys are great against Gunlines as they can burrow then pop up anywhere doing alot of damage.

I considered running them as mawlocs but its too risky. They all huddle up along the boardedge so if i actually want to hit something with their deep strike, i also risk scattering them off the board.
I've eyed the biovores though, and I think they would work well against all, except maybe for the IG who can barragespam better than me. But they ruin my MC saturation. Im kinda hoping for a plastic biovore/pyrovore kit with the new book so I'm reluctant to buy any of the current crapmodels now just to try them.

Well, you can proxy the much better Pyrovore models to count as Biovores (who currently have a model with a pretty epic derp face).

Dakkafex in pods can be all kinds of hell for a gun line, as it is both very shoot and still a beast in assault.

I'd say Dakkafexes in Pods. Not only will you get close with the Pod (unless you scatter away) but you will also get it's shooting attacks with the Fex. The downside here is finding 20-30 points to squeeze them into your army without the Trygons. Biovores are great against said armies as well, and the fact that the barrage is an assault weapon helps them stay alive.
