Hello! Welcome to Dakka Dakka! The best thing I can offer as far as destroying a monolith is shooting it with heavy weapons until it dies, but I'm sure someone will offer a more creative solution.

We are pleased to announce that we have streamlined the miniature collecting process. For a large sum of money we will simply give you an empty box with an exciting picture of a Space Marine on the front.

We call this the "You won't get round to painting it anyway" scheme.

If using the contents of your darkvengeance box, use the meltaweapons you have. I think one of the chosen has a meltagun strapped to his back and your hellbrute has a multimelta.
The monolith has armor value 14 and thus can only be harmed by weapons with strenght 8 or higher. Strenght 8 will only allow glancing hits and therefore will take alot of shot and 6's on your penetration rolls.

Melta however may use 2d6 for armor penetration at half range. So if you manage to get the hellbrute within 12" of the monolith you'll have a good chance of blowing it up. Str 8 + 2d6, so on average you will have a penetrating shot and also remember because melta is AP1, it will allow you to add +2 to your result on the penetrating table when you do score a penetrating hit.

So one you hit, penetrate, all you need to do is roll a 3, 4, 5, 6 and the monolith will go boom.

If you want to buy new models, obliterators are a good choice for chaos or a group of 10 chaos raptors with 2 meltaguns and some meltabombs on the sergeant will do the job well too!

If you invest in a Maulerfiend they're a pretty good choice to have. They can move through difficult terrain with ease and can be equipped with magma cutters (basically melta-guns) and will tear vehicles apart with those as well as its twin power fists. Also, because it's a daemon engine, it can regenerate HP's at the end of the turn!

Also- welcome to Dakka!

Necrons are a big fan of vehicles since the '11 codex, so as has been said melta is definitely your friend (especially seeing the Monolith there). Raptors especially against Abarges to get close without suffering from too much tesla.

The biggest problem with the Monolith is Deep Strike mishaps, although if it gets on the board then ouch if it sucks up units or starts pulling his warriors over to flank you.
