Hello!
I need some feedback about this list. I myself am so uncomfortable with this somehow even though I've been told that this is a good list.

Ropecon 2013 Tournament list (1850pts)
Chaos Space Marines:

HQ:
- Chaos Lord
Mark of Khorne
Juggernaut
Axe of Blind Fury

Troops:
- 10x Cultists
Flamer

- 10x Cultists
Flamer

- 10x Cultists
Flamer

-10x Cultists
Flamer

Fast Attack
- 6x Bikes
Mark of Nurgle
Power Weapon (Axe)
2x Meltaguns

- 5x Chaos Spawns

Heavy Support:
- 2x Obliterators
Mark of Nurgle

- 2x Obliterators
Mark of Nurgle

Allies:
Necrons:
HQ:
- Necron Overlord
2+ armour save
Warscythe.
Mindshackle Scarabs

Troops:
- Necron Immortals
Night Scythe

- Necron Immortals
Night Scythe

Fast Attack:
10x Scarabs

Heavy Support:
- Annihilation Barge

Fortification:
- Aegis Defence Line
Quad Gun

Grand Total: 1840pts.

So, 10 points left.
I think I'll change something, so I haven't thought of this yet.
Anyway, test matches are possible, but later.

I was thinking of getting more points for librarian with a bike. Then it should be played with Biomancy.
Necron Immortals might be changed to warriors since they will be sitting in a plane a long time.

Suggestions?

Your list looks like a good start, but i see a few weaknesses.

* 20 cultists are easy to knock off an objective. They have a crap leadership, and a few casulatlies will have the running off the board. Your better off taking 4 squads of 10 over two squads of 20. In either case though, your really weak on troops. Many vet players will just kill them, leaving you with the 2 necron troops. That's bad news, as your stuck playing for a tie in most missions.

* Your necron lord feels out of place. Swap your scarabs out for wraiths, make your necron lord a destroyer lord and stick him with the wraiths. Don't over-expect from the wraith/lord combo and it will do well. Often people think it can handle anything. It can't Don't throw it down my throat, but instead threaten side units, or rear units. Take advantage of the 12" move!

* Go with bikes or spawn, you don't really need both. They both fill the same role as the wraiths/scarabs too. That's 3 fast moving attack units. This means you rushing up with 3 units to assault with. You then have expensive campers and your flyers coming in after you assault. It just feels slightly disjointed to me.

I would drop the immortals in favor of the warriors for sure. Immortals are great but the night scythes are the great part about bringing the Necron troops. Maybe add a barge if you can afford it?

I like that you are bringing both Spawn and bikers, really in your face approach there. Should do well in my opinion. Not sure about the scarabs though, those points may be better used elsewhere. For the bikes I usually take plasma instead of meltaguns, I have had more success that way but that is just my preference.

I think your list is solid and will do well as a TAC. I was thinking of running a similar list but didn't have the means to acquire a Necron detachment. Best of luck!

Agreed about cultists, 2x20 ain't gonna hold much of nothin'. I think even a 30 and a 10 beats 2 20s.
Juggerlord w/spawn ftw, serious hurt right there. And having multiple fast-attack units gives the rest of your army time to do it's thing without pressure, IMO totally worth it. Especially considering your particular FA can dish out some solid hurt. Just make sure you target units you know you can handle; those groups are too expensive to be used to try tar-pit deathstars.
Don't know nothing 'bout necrons, but your CSM looks pretty solid otherwise.

Since you have slots, I would just split your cultist to 3x10 and reserve them all, last and first scenario were 5 objective ones IIRC so you need as many troops as possible. And with the points from cultist give your lord Sigil and meltabombs. Other than that it's pretty good list. I hope we can have match at Ropecon

Well, why not
When I'm not playing in tournament, I'm able to play the evening after the first half (it's still 2 days, right?) since I might not go to the apocalypse.

I changed Cultists to 4 groups of 10. I still feel quite weak about this, especially when those guys are supposed to use the Quadgun. Was it TL? I have lost my copy of the big rulebook (I have no idea how) so I can't look at it before I find a new one.

Scarabs and Lord to Wraiths and Destroyer Lord sounds like it's going to play well with the guys I already have. They might be a bit less useful against vehicles since Scarabs always take a lot of armor away. I'll be counting points soon, but I have to go to store today, so it may wait for a few hours.

So now my only problem is weak troops? I quickly can't think of anything else.
I'm still wondering about the HQ. Librarian with Biomancy is pretty nice, but lord will do better when they (my guys or foe) get close.

But all your troops will be in reserves atleast for first turn shooting and on turn two your spawns and bikes should be doing pressure to enemy.

Your list is strikingly similar to a friend of mine who has had great success with the following list (approximate because I have crap memory):

Chaos Lord - Juggernaut, Axe of BF, Sigil, Khorne mark

Slanneshi Demon Prince with Wings and Black Mace, Armor too I think?

2x 10 man Cultist squads (reserved, wander on)

Heldrake

4 or 5 Spawn

Necrons:

Destroyer Lord w/ Mindshackle, Weave, Scythe

2x 5 Wraiths (maybe one squad?)

3x 5 man Warrior squads in Night Scythes

Barge

Should be around 1850 but I can't remember exactly. This is a pain in the tookus. While the Lord and Spawn are charging you have a flying prince to worry about, Wraiths with a 2+/3++ wandering in your direction, and 4 flyers. 5 Scoring units and so much target saturation that you forget about those lowly Cultists parked on the home objective.

Good luck in the Tourney!

Well its too bad your friend's list is illegal, you cant have 2 allied wraith groups, or 3 allied troops. Also wraiths dont have 2+ save.

Must be only 2 Scythes and one Wraith unit then. I don't really play allies so I'm not super familiar with the options there. And yes, I know that Wraiths have a 3+ Inv save. With the Lord in front the unit is 2+ first followed by the 3++ of the Wraiths. Sorry for the confusion and mispost, but like I said, memory is junk nowadays.
