Which s th best troop choice in fluff and on the field? In fluff obviously Space Marines (of course...) but in game in my opinion it is probably Tyranid warriors. Three wounds, synapse some great upgrades. They may not be the most cost effective but in a 1 on 1 with another single model troop choice I don't think anything can take them.

Besides a regular Grey Knight and his handy NFW! Are you including units that are unlocked as troops (henchmen, DWT, Paladins, etc.)?

LR Executioner. Why take boring infantry when you can take one of these:

It's probably gretchin. They are the ultimate underdogs.

For the Imperials it has to be the standard Guardsmen. They do fight over 99.999999% of the Imperium's battles, Without them the IoM would not exist.

Overall its DA BOYZ! Ork Boyz are made for fighting and killing.

Oh, no unlock troops?

Umm... Well imperial guard mechvets are pretty good, game-wise. Two heavy bolters, 3 BS4 plasma guns, all wrapped up in some AV12 for the low, low price of 170. And you can keep kitting them if you want, including a lascannon and a pair of plasma pistols, all of which get to shoot out of said open-topped transport. They can also take a special character that lets you outflank.

Otherwise, CSM has some nice options. You can take a squad of 20 with +1A, +1I, and FNP for 380 points (and can take more weapon upgrades), which will beat practically anything but the heaviest hitters in close combat, and shreds stuff with shooting as well. Plus, once per fight you have about a 1 in 15 chance to accidentally spawn a demon prince.

of course, said 400 points will also buy you a 50-man guard blob with 5 lascannons, which is a fair bit of firepower as well, but it's not nearly so good in close combat.

How can one not love the 6p Ork Boy? Cheap, reliable, killy and expendable. While their fluff isn't anything special, one cannot deny their effectiveness.

Eye of Terror... I think

Mine has always been genestealers or Noise Marines. I love the aliens franchise and just the fear a unit of genestealers evokes in an opponent, and Noise Marines because sonic weaponry has always kicked ass and Sex, Drugs, and Rock are all warrior ideals to live by lol

I believe in the power of guardsmen, not guardsman. With enough of them you can do anything.

This, an Ork shoota boy is perhaps the single most cost effective unit in the game.

In fluff it's most definitely not the standard Space Marine. It's got to either be a Necron Immortal or a Grey Knight Terminator.

In game, I'd probably give my vote to the Ork Boy.

Eldar shenanigans are the best shenanigans!

Procrastinating.

I'm chucking my vote in for the ever-faithful wave serpent(with a soft, chewy, troops choice centre)

In terms of fluff, I would say it's the ork boy.

This

I had my usual 10man grot team for backfield objectives single-handedly kill a 3man termie squad that showed up in my backyard. That is so unlikely its not even funny lol.

Of course, i never let the guy forget that happened either lol

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

I'd say the guardsmen. Just iconic and classic.

Overwhelm the enemy with an unrelenting onslaught of the hive mind.
