While reading up on Abbadon, it was mentioned that he and few other's were made directly using geneseed from Horus himself(lexicanum). Were there any other Primarchs who had direct "son's" like this? I am curious because I want to include something similar in my own DIY chapter. Thanks for the time and the replies.

Yes. In fact most of the first generation non-terran marines would've had their geneseed directly from their primarch. The Emperor's Children are also specifically mentioned in Betrayal as being on the verge of being wiped out before they found Fulgrim, who was able to produce enough geneseed to keep the legion going.

Any ideas on how this works is it just the Primarks dna that they need or cells from their geneseed? Just seems odd that someone would have enough of anything for 100k other guys.

You don't think there would be enough geneseed? You really don't?

Daston, I think it's time we have a talk about the birds and the bees...

It is not directly discussed how a Primarch body is structured.

We do know they do make geneseed in some amounts.

Either their body directly makes progenoids or progenoids are simply made from their DNA. My guess is both are true, hence how the Emperor was able to make marines with only the primarch's DNA.

Ahh, thanks for the clarification about the Primarchs. I assumed they had progeniods but it is only Asartes who have them. Correct? So they use the blood, or other simple tissues to get DNA to create progeniods. This means that the "son's" probably had a new batch of cells, or I guess 1st generation progeniods, while everyone else had 2nd or older generations of geneseed. Let me know if this is correct.
Could this mean that if the Ultra's extracted blood from Guilliman they could create a new generation of Asartes, more like their Primarch than any others?

I'm sure they could if Guilliman wasn't in stasis and removing him might possibly kill him.

It's my opinion that Astartes of the 30k time were a lot more resilient and durable than the 40k ones due to being "closer" to their genetic heritage.

10k years could account for a lot of genetic drift

(Similar to the Asgard situation from Stargate)

There's a lot of misinformation here.

First of all you're mistaking Abaddon having gene-seed from Horus himself for the rumour that Abaddon is the clone son of Horus. (Which he's not actually).

Every Luna Wolf/Son of Horus has 'gene-seed from Horus himself', that's where it all originates from. Primarch's don't have progenoid glands.

There's no evidence that 30k Space Marines are in any way superior to 40k ones.

Then why does it say on lexicanum that Abbadon was rumored to be apart of group called the "Son's of Horus"? Who were said to have used geneseed DIRECTLY from Horus himself. Here is the link again:

Now granted I know that lexicanum is not perfect so I am not saying it should be taken as cannon. I also know that all of the space marines have DNA from their primarch, but if there is no difference then why is it mentioned at all that there were some members of the Luna Wolves who had geneseed directly from Horus? That is where I am confused obviously. We're the sons of Horus just clones or were just the favored warriors of Horus?

It's author error, he's conflating the gene-seed with the rumored cloning. The 'Son's of Horus' is what the whole legion was renamed post Ullanor, it wasn't a special group amongst the legion.

As part of Abaddon's original fluff he was rumored to be a clone of Horus due to their similarities and affection for one another. Obviously this isn't true with Abaddon not being a primarch himself.

Looking at the citation i've opened that page up. The actual text is 'it's rumoured that Abaddon may have been a clone-son of Horus himself, a direct creation of the Primarch's gene-seed'.

That bit about the primach's gene-seed is a reference to the cloning process. Abaddon was rumored be a clone of horus; he was cloned from the primarch's gene-seed.

Note however that it is just an apocryphal rumor and not actually true. He's not Horus' clone and there's not some group of legion members specially descended from Horus.

There was also something in the first few Horus Heresy novels about some of the Lunar Wolfs taking on very similar physical traits of Horus. Or, somesuch. There even was one that was called Little Horus because of the similar physical appearance. I believe, it was just an effect of the process of becoming a Space Marine of the Lunar Wolfs.

Rems is spot-on RE: the OP.

Although the rumour that Abaddon isn't a clone isn't neccesarily untrue IMHO. It's seriously improbable, of course, but Fabius was able to clone Horus...

Ahh thank you for clearing that up. I was confused by son's of Horus as a specific group within the legion. I forgot they pewee renamed before the heresy.

Abnett says otherwise.

Both:
Horus Rising Chapter Four:
There was a curious incidence in the Luna Wolves Legion of Astartes bearing a facial resemblance to their primarch. This had been put down to conformities in the gene-seed, but still, those who echoed Horus in their features were considered especially lucky, and were known by all the men as ‘the Sons of Horus’. It was a mark of honour, and it often seemed the case that ‘Sons’ rose faster and found better favour than the rest. Certainly, Loken knew for a fact, all the previous members of the Mournival had been ‘Sons of Horus’. In this respect, he was unique.
Loken owed his looks to an inheritance of the pale, craggy blood-line of Cthonia. He was the first non-’Son’ to be elected to this elite inner circle.

A lot of SM look like their primarch or share a kinship in their looks. It does not mean they are clones though.

The Raven Guard all have black hair and pale skin don't they? What about TEC and that white hair?
