I'm thinking about switching from Eldar to Nids but am afraid of my local meta which is PACKED with IG, DE, and Tau. Am I looking towards a future of repetitive losses here?

Eldar are pretty damn strong right now. Why switch to Nids?

Nids do quite well in sixth eddition due to the amount of monsterous creatures they have avaible wich seems to be the big thing, + the physcic powers for FNP etc is quite good.

DE are a pretty hard counter to MC heavy armies in general and Tyranids in particular, due to the abundant poison. However, a fast and hyper-aggressive Tyranid army can still get to grips with them and punish their poor toughness and laughable saves,
IG are the checkers game of 40k. If he cripples your army before your second movement phase, he wins. If he doesn't, you win. It's pretty straightforward.
Tau, I have no clue how to beat with Tyranids beyond ditching Biomancy for Telepathy, abusing Psychic Shriek, Terrify, Hallucination, and Puppet Master, and hoping for the best.

Against Tau your best bet is to run a mixed army of MCs and small bugs. The tervigon spam list works well with the heavy support making up the other big bugs. makes it harder for the tau to focus on just one target until its dead. i still like venomthropes for their cover save they grant. when i play my nids against tau its a game of who makes a mistake first really depending on how skilled both players are. if youre both decently proficient then it really is up to the dice gods. which makes for a fun game. tau dont really have a hard counter to psychic stuff so nids do actually decent against them. if they take eldar allies on the other hand then they usually end up going to sleep.

Nids are still great. My buddy plays them and he is relentless. Playing him is like trying to survive for 6 or 7 turns.... it's so fun.
I'm not sure how they'll fair against DE, but we have Eldar, Necrons, Orks, IG, and Marines in our group and he does very well. I'd say he wins a fair share his battles.

If you do switch and you face a tau player, dont go nidzilla lol trust me. Granted i only played 1 game with him before he moved (normally im orks) but all 5 of his MCs just melted away and i tabled him turn 3. Tau have an obsurred about of Ap2 or rate of fire to eat away 2+/3+ armor on single models. I killed his flyrant with 3 units worth of dakka the instnat it showed its face, and i had 8 things that could shoot it.
