Congrats on second! That guard player had it until a few wonky decisions. CCS should have stayed back in area terrain to go for ground with orders for the 2++ while the primaris should have joined the blob squad, that buys him 3 points there. Vendetta 2 goes for the lone striker while the other goes to your back corner to grab linebreaker T5. Had he done these small changes I don't think you could have climbed back.

Again though congrats as you outplayed him late game and took it from him. Fekking Marbo eh?

Game three was epic and I love his army. Sad to see he only pulled a 12 for painting, I thought it was modeled at least as well as any of the other armies in your report including yours (which is looking great btw ) and it looks like you pulled max.

Would love to see another match with that guard player and plenty more pics on your blog maybe, I like to stop by the chapel for great looking games! I am in love with his rogue trader army!

P.S. Marbo rules!

Agreed.

I tend to avoid the "my opponent should have done this" discussions both in respect to my opponents, and with the desire of focusing on improving my own playing regardless of my opponents' decisions. That's the thing about tournaments... people can bring lists that "should" win in a vacuum, but deployment, movement, and dice play a bigger part than most armchair generals realize.

Painting was scored VERY loosely and the TO was not our usual TO. He informed us that our painting would be judged based on what was actually complete with a leeway for some unfinished models. Six players scored max painting and obviously not all "perfect" armies were equal. They gave out prize support for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and best sport/comp so everyone let the painting thing slide. Just like not critiquing my opponents, I try to give TO's the benefit of the doubt (usually).

Thanks for following the blog. The guy who took first is my newest author and he was taking pics so I hope he writes up his games as well. His list was about as different from mine as can be with a jetarch, jetseer, spyders, serpents, wraithguard, and jetbikes. I think his matches were slightly more difficult than mine also.

Hey no problem man, you have some great content on there, though I'll be honest I look forward to reports and modeling posts more then anything as like you said lists and tactics should be dependent on play style and general first which makes tactics almost pointless UNLESS we critique past games and key errors or enlightened moves.

I think I felt the guard players loss personally because I have played IG since 2nd and it makes that Marbo magic almost in total vain

CCS can't go to ground and still pass out orders. P29 C:IG
