As the title states, I'm going through the stages of developing a paint scheme for a Necron and Tyranid army.

The 2 pictures are my tester models. Any comments good or bad are welcome. Feedback is always a good thing.

Looking for opinions on the Tyranid, as I couldn't figure out what colour to do the Carapace, I was going to go 'Bone' and last minute went the green. Let me know!

I think the Tyrannid scheme looks good not sure about the mouth colour tho looks a little odd to me.

I think the necron needs to be a bit brighter (the actual metal).
I like the blue on it but the model is just missing something I can't quite put my finger on but overall I like both these minis

I really like the conversion you have on the Necron there! I think if you added some gold accents like on the joints then it would fill it out more with out having to do too much extra painting. Plus gold and blue are always nice together. That or do them black

The termigaunt is nice, I agree with the mouth thing a bit. I think you should stick with the idea but maybe either add some blue like you have on the tail or remove the blue from the tail so they match. But i honestly like the little blue tip

Thanks for the feedback! I feel I should elaborate a little more on the models as obviously a picture doesn't fully explain what I was going for.

Necron. The body was painted midnight blue and the head was painted red. This is the 'colours' of the armour. The look I'm going for though is a rusted and corroded/dusty and 'desert-y' feel. I added chips and scratches with chain mail/dwarf bronze/tin bitz. I also hate the look of the regular rifle, plus the clear green tubes, so opted to make it look more like a carbine. Corrosion was added with pigments.

Now, I may have gone a little overboard and have lost the colours in the model but the unique thing about this is I can develop different levels of damage and decay on each model individually. This tester is obviously on the 'older and worn' side of the coin. I'll have to make a comparison 'not so busted up' version. I'll be making ones with missing limbs, exposed wires, battle damage, severe corrosion and maybe 'repairs'. Maybe got a touch 'steampunk' in the repairs...

Tyranid. The body was painted with mixes of different oranges and each limb and extremity has a phase to blue. The mouth area is also phased to blue. As I wanted to make the teeth stand out I went for bone and then there is green 'goo/saliva' dripping from his mouth. The angle doesn't really show it.

It was all very improvised and isn't set in stone. I could leave the head completely orange, maybe even phase to yellow? I thought the blue face didn't look too bad, but it's why I'm asking for opinions. The tail looks cool, but it can also look a little out of place. Does the green carapace work with the orange and blue? Would a 'bone' carapace work better? I think it would look brighter.

Any ideas for improvement or development is welcomed!

Thanks!

I think they both look nice colour wise. I think your last minute change to green for the nid carapace was a much better choice than bone.

I like the rusted desert idea for the Necron too, would like to see some more painted

Yeah the green and orange look really good together. I think a whole army of that would look fantastic
