Hey guys,
I´ve recently bought the legendary Vlad mini and really like it. Problem is i can´t get it to hold together at the tiny joints Vlads weapons keep on falling off. I´ve tried my regular super glue but it´s not strong enough and green stuff doens´t cut it either. After throwing a fit I burrowed the joints inside a blob of GS but it looks crappy and i want a slicker solution.
How would you guys fix it?
tia,
Tom

Sounds like you need to pin the model.

Google "how to pin a metal miniature" - you'll see a series of you tube videos and other articles. Frex, this: http://massivevoodoo.blogspot.cz/2009/11/tutorial-how-to-prepare-metal-miniature.html (scroll down about halfway).

Pinning would be one option, this would create very secure joins. If you are having trouble with superglue have you tried using Bicarbonate soda? Basically you sprinkle a small amount on one side of the join and superglue on the other. The Bicarb will act as an accelerator so you won't have to hold it together for very long for it to stick it, also it doesn't shrink when it dries so creates a strong surface to bond with.

Pinning is the only way to go. Any of the accelerators out there will weaken the bond that superglue provides. Don't get me wrong, there are times I use accelerator, but if you are having problems with superglue alone, accelerator is only going to make it worse.

That said, pin and use JB Kwik and that joint will never come apart.

Tbh i have no idea how to pin these joints, they are very, very slim, just a couple of mm... Guess I´ll try the soda thing first.

PP base pinning set small enough. You can find similar at hobby stores too.

When pinning, be sure to make a small mark on each piece you drill with the point of your xacto knife. This will help keep the bit from slipping. Go slow, take your time and let the bit do the work.

Cool! It won't be as strong as pinning but I never superglue anything now without adding a bit of bicarbonate/baking soda to the join.
