I've tried dettol. It can't get rid of primer and only makes the situation worse.

The best luck I've had is acetone-free nail polish remover (acetone can be used for metal but not for plastic) but it's expensive as all hell. I'm yet to give brake fluid a try which is my next stop.

I've also heard good things (then again I heard good things about dettol which didn't turn out well) about Simple Green, Purple Power (US only afaik), easy off oven cleaner (I think someone's also said the BAM series can work), isopropyl alcohol (usually used for cleaning stuff like thermal paste from CPU coolers so it could work), and more.

For nail polish remover you leave the model in 10-15 minutes and scrub; it'll get any primer off completely. It works better if the paint is sanded a bit so the paint is easier to come off as the remover can get under it.

Valleyo airbrush cleaner, in the netherlands you can order it online with the valleyo distributor, google dax magic shop, valleyo. Otherwise you can most likely get it at hobbystores that sell valleyo airbrush paint. For example in Breda you have the Train 2000 or Marklin 2000 shop that sells it. Just empty a bottle of the stuff into a plastic tupperware box, drop your model in for a couple of hours, take an old toothbrush and off comes all the paint. Make sure you dip the toothbrush in the cleaner too, for some odd reason this really helps...

Sorry its vallejo, not valleyo. And its not at all harmfull for your models.

@shaozun Thanks for the info, ill just try and start with my old metal models then, i've tried cleaning a left over arm I had lying around and it kinda messed up the texture of the plastc, its a shame if i'd mess up my other models too.

@aliusexallo allright i'll google it see if I can get it somewhere near me! Does it work for both metal & plastic models?

I would assume so - provided it's only acrylic paints that were used.
IF ANY of them had any enamel paint, then that won't shift and it will just go very gooey.

I had great succes with the 98 cents extra strong kitchen cleaner the Action sells. soak for 3 days and just brushed the paint of with a toothbrush. Weird choice i know, but it worked like a charm for me! Only weird thing i came across is that it worked a lot better on plastics then it did metals, i had to soak my metals for a week but on the plastics it came right off.
