The need for eliminating enemy weapon specialists can arise even for orks. Flamers, heavy bolters and the like can ruin many charges, so bloodaxe meks came up with a weapon that would ensure that more boys reached enemy lines. Sharpshootas are heavy breech loaded rifles that fire a single flechette spike. Despite the lack of bullets it can unleash, the deafening sound and the deadliness of the gun have gotten the interest of more than one ork boy. Yet it has proven difficult for Warbosses to employ such weapons in larger numbers due to the lack boys calm enough to actually aim the gun at an intended target before firing.
For every 10 boys in a mob, one may upgraded to a sharpshoota for free. This can be done in addition to any big shootas or rokkit launchas the mob takes.
Ork Sharpshoota boys share stats with regular ork boys but exchange their weapons for a sharpshoota and gain the Save um' fer tha boss special rule
Sharpshoota: Range 18"... S X ... Ap - ... Assault 1, Sniper
Save um' fer tha boss
Any precision shots made by a sharpshoota boy cannot be
allocated to a model with the Character special rule. Such
enemies should be kept alive for a good fight! If the targeted
unit only consists of characters then allocate these wounds
as normal
Just for fun and friendly games. Any opinions on regarding balance? And does someone have a better name for the gun/boys? I just took the first "orky" name that came to mind. Other ideas for the concept is also welcome

Seeing as how these boyz are supposed to be patient enough to aim the weapon, I would make it 10 pts and shots sre resolved at BS3. This reflects the boy actually taking the tie to aim instead of just firing randomly as orks are apt to do.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

Neat Idea and general implementation.
As opposed to true snipers, I think the orks would employ troops closer to the role of designated marksman. As such I think the following changes would be fun and fit the idea.
Ork Morksman Shoota
24" SX AP- Assault 1, Sniper, Telyskopik Site
18" SX AP- Assault 2, Sniper, Telyskopik Site
Telyscoptic Sight - May reroll any to-hit dice.

Happyjew: I oppose the idea of giving an ork BS3, orks are bat shots after all. "Aiming" in this instance is rather pointing the gun towards a specific enemy soldier in a squad instead of just firing wildly in the general direction of said squad. This "aim" does not make the ork a better shot, it just increases his chances of hitting that specific soldier -> Sniper special rule.
Jihadnik: Thanks! It just felt right for orks
acekevin8412: Sounds interesting, maybe something for kommandos, or its own elite choice? My own idea was based on how Imperial squads have both special and heavy weapons and since I play bloodaxe themed army i figured that it could be something orks would copy. Not to mention the fun of having something else than the big shoota/rokkit launcha in the regular boy squad.
...Could I explain the sniper rule by some mek strapping a laser pointer (lasgun) to the rifle and limit them to one per mob so that the orks don't confuse each other with the extra red dots

The concept of the designated marksman role fits with your goal of imitating the integrated special/heavy weapons of Imperial Guard squads. Every squad usually contains a marksman to deal with threats outside of the normal range of the rest of the squads weapons, ie outside shoota range. At the same time, their not snipers so when they close in they are almost as effective as their assault rifle wielding squadmates. Also with the random nature of the rending portion of the Sniper rule, you could just chalk it up to the flechette either hitting hard enough or in the right spot to be lethal to even terminators.

I guess that I was after the designated marksman role. I'm just not that familiar with the English/American terminology.
In Swedish;
A designated marksman in a squad is called "skarpskytt", sharpshooter. And since that sounded acceptable I went by that name for the orks.
P.S. A sniper is called "prickskytt", bull's eye shooter. (best direct translation I can think of sounds silly )

No, I don't want grot snipers. I wanted to make something different with the sniper rule for my orks. If I wanted to do this for better BS I would have given the grots snipers in the first place.

Hrmmn under present rules with no changes you can upgrade a big shoota boy to a Nob in the Squad ..it works 1/2 the shots the Nob does are designated at that point but its not a sniper ..
----
i like the Idea of one sniper per 10 boyz instead of big shootas or what not ..mabey make this an upgrade for kommandoes

That would actually be kind of a cool rule! Between retaining BS and 18 inch range I think it does reflect their generally poor aim very well as well.
