Ever wanted that enemy army REAAAAAAALY dead real fast? Ever had an intense desire to pour down truly ridiculous numbers of S10 AP1 hits per turn with near impunity practically anywhere on the battlefield?

Then look no further kind sir, your search is finally over!

Allow me to present to you, the Vargard's Cheese™ unit:

Overlord + SW + PS + Phaeron
Vargard Obyron
3 x Sentry Pylon + Focussed Death Ray
Total 810pts

Hide this baby somewhere deep in cover in your backfield on army set up and come your turn deepstrike it into any location within 24" of the enemy army of your choice (we recommend aiming for a minimal (12+unit radius)" distance from both the enemy and any terrain feature capable of causing a mishap). When emerging from the deepstrike, make sure to place the Overlord last and facing towards whatever elements in your victim's force you think are most likely to survive to fire back, thus allowing this majority toughness 7 (!) unit the benefit of a 2+/3++ save in the unlikely eventuality that the table will not be flipped by the end of your turn.

Now, normally the Sentry Pylons, being artillery type models, would be unable to fire following a deepstrike. However, thanks to the presence of your Phaeron they are now Relentless, allowing them to 'port n' shoot like Stalkers on crack.

"But wait!" you say, "this is a single unit- how can it possibly crush our enemies as they so richly deserve with but three model's shooting?"

Fear not! The description of the Focussed Death Ray clearly states:
To fire the focussed death ray, nominate a point on the battlefield anywhere within its range, then nominate a second point within 3D6" of the first. Draw a straight line (considered to be 1mm in width) between the two points. Every unit (friendly or enemy) underneath that line suffers a number of hits equal to twice the number of models underneath the line.

With a range of 24" this masterfully crafted chunk of cheese will let you reduce up to three enemy formations within 24" of your deepstrike location to molten slag and carbon shadows with a single shooting phase!

And that is not all! If by some random stroke of supreme fortune your foe still stands at the end of the phase the unit will almost assuredly survive the return fire and be able to repeat the performance in your following turn!

Order NOW!*

* Warning: may cause other players to refuse playing against you ever again.

I have to admit I'm surprised- I expected some kind of a reply by now...

For a start you cannot move and fire with arterilley relentless or not. Also its a gimmick list that will catch out inexperinced players experinced players will be able to deploy to counter this.

Frankly I like the gauss exterminator pylons better for skyfire/interceptor and 120' range

I wasn't actually planning on using that unit, so I'm actually relieved to hear that.

Me too- I'm probably going to order a couple of them sometime in the near future. Putting these things inside an ADL along with a 5 warrior squad and possibly a couple of Harbingers (destruction, or maybe trans with harp) and a quad gun around a backfield objective sounds downright brutal.

It certainly does melt infantry and tanks quite well, but monstrous creatures appear to be it's achilles heel.

God damn Nova charged riptides.

Except that's what relentless do?
It makes you shoot as if you didn't move at all, and AFAIK artillery do not have a rule that forbids relentless from working.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

Read the artillery rules, believe me I wanted to do this with enduranced thundefire cannons but the entry says something along the lines of Artillery cannot move and fire in the same turn as they cannot fire snap shots, RAW you cannot move and fire in the same turn there is no allowence there for relentless or not.

The Pylons are actually somewhat big. I'm not sure they are small enough to claim cover from an ADL but meh. milage may vary.

Relentless should override Artillery methinks.

Even if it doesn't work, you inspired me to another idea:
Putting a 2+/3++ lord or ic with them makes them nearly unkillable!

What if the unit causing them to deep strike is anti tank flyers. They get first shot at your stuff and just move away from your lines and spread out

Yes, you cant shoot them after moving them.

But relentless makes them pretend to have never moved from the firstplace when shooting salvo/heavy/ordnance guns (and the pylon guns are classified heavy), snap shots got nothing to do with it.

Rule chaining and overrides are the core principle of gaming, without it most special rules would not have worked.
