Unfortunately, I'm not masochistic.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Hmm, I seem to be getting better (although I'm still playing against normal AI...) depending on the map, but I've been using a 20-minute no rush so I can get the hang of build orders without having to swat away pesky AI attacks.
Without that no rush I think I'd still suck balls, because my usual strategy of 'rush tech 3' will be a lot harder.

You`d be surprised how crucial t1 units can be, you need a healthy amount of them, even just to throw your opponent off and make him focus on defences rather than tech. The problem i find with rushes to higher tiers is that it leaves you open to attack before you get any serious units down.

That's where I start to fall down; I cannot for the life of me micro AND macro; it's an impossibility for me regardless of the game. Either I get too caught up in base-building and I forget about my units being picked off one-by-one by mobile arty because the game doesn't tell me I'm under attack, or I micro my units to oblivion and completely forget my base exists. After so many years of gaming this is an issue I have yet to be able to rectify.

Drop Trooper with Demo Charge

In terms of beginning build orders, for forge alliance, it is actually best to begin with factory of choice, usually land, then 2 mass extractors and 2 power generators. Have the factory be churning out a couple of engies.
Believe it or not, t1 engineers are the best means of speeding up production for their cost. At the same time, at least in a 1v1 scenario, your commander should be up the field claiming mass points and engaging enemy tanks. He has the equivalent power of 2 t1 engies or 20 tanks, so do the math on what he is better at. At the same time, you should be producing some t1 mechbots for raiding isolated engineers and t1 tanks for frontline combat. Where you go from here will change depending on your opponent.
