What are the most commonly seen deathstars for each of the armies in 40K in a game of 2000 points or less? Are deathstars from 5th edition still as good in 6th?

Blood Angel Terminator with Lightning Claws

Off the top of my head:
Tyranids: Swarmlord + tyrant guard + Tyranid Prime
Dark Eldar: Archon + Incubi
Eldar: Wraithguard + Farseer + DE archon
Dark Angels: Belial + 5-10 Deathwing Knights
Thats all I can think of right now, though I know theres a few more...

I've thought about an IG star with Ogryns, Yarrick, and Azrael. Not sure if it works, but rerollable t5 majority toughness is meaty for guardsmen.

Tyranids: Swarmlord w/ tyrand guard
Space Marines: Lysander w/ attached THSS Terminator full squad
Legion Space Marines: Horus w/ 10 deathshroud bodyguard (900 points)
Necrons: Fully decked out Overlord w/ barge and full royal court
Grey Knights: Mrs Draigo sue w/ 10 man paladin squad
Space Wolves: Fully kitted out Rune Priest w/ multiple wolves ( Feth Jaws and Living Lightning)
Blood Angels: Mephiston & a full death company
Eldar: Wraithseer w/ attached full wraithguard (Wraithseers are awesome)
Dark Eldar: Andrusbael Vect w/ attached full Incubi squad
Imperial Guard: Full company command squad w/ all upgrades
Orks: Good old Ghazzy w/ attached full Meganobz squad
That's all of the Death Stars that I have played & played against. Half the time a Deathstar can be a good thing if they can get their hands on multiple units to tear apart at the same time.

I didn't know that. I don't play BA but there's a couple players at my game store who do & they always have Mephiston & a Death Company squad. Thank's for letting me know I'll get on that next time I play against them.

Maybe he's just running Meph near the DC squad and no one has bothered to try to actually shoot Meph or ask if they're part of the same unit, I've done it before

- Death Company + Lemartes
- Chappy + Divination Libby + Hammernators in a Storm Raven
Daemons:
- Karanak + 3x Khorne Jugger Heralds w/Axe of Khorne + either Bloodcrushers/Hounds
- Slaanesh 'challenge herald' Lv2 Telepathy + max Fiends or Seekers
Grey Knights:
- Draigo + Divination Libby + Techmarine w/rads & psychos + full Pally squad
- Techmarine w/rads & psychos + 4 Crusaders w/power axe + 6 Deathcults w/power mauls

Daemons have a few shiny ones:
Karanak + Bloodcrushers: Scouting, AP3 Cavalry with melee stats to rival MCs. While Karanak is tanking the unit only really struggles against S10, walkers or 2+ saves.
Jugger-Heralds + Flesh Hounds: Scouting beasts with millions of attacks and all the wounds in the world. Put a 3++ on them for added hilarity. Also surprisingly cheap.
4x Heralds of Tzeentch with 10 Horrors: How does ~45 *hits* a turn, at S6/AP4, sound to you? What if those shots ignore cover and/or force saves to be rerolled? Defensively, does a 2++ rerollable invul appeal?
Get all of this and receive free Divination buffs to the rest of your army as an added bonus.

To answer your first question, I think a lot of the death stars from 5th were already resilient enough to survive a few shooting phases, so most of them can still be pretty effective, given that overwatch has screwed over a lot of assault-reliant units. One thing to keep in mind is that 4 of the 6 mission types have at least 3 objectives, so you need a few solid troop blocks to get those, especially since you can spend 700+ points on a death star.
Just to list a few that were missed:
Nob bikers with a biker boss for orks
Lysander and a kitted-out squad of TH/SS terminators
Tyranid Prime and a bunch of Bonesword/LW warriors
Abbadon and a unit of terminators
Kharn and a full unit of berserkers

Battle Sisters have one in the form of Jacobus + 7 maul/axe Death Cultists + 3 Sword Crusaders. Throw in a Canoness for extra lols, although this does then make the unit vulnerable to Challenges.

Like a libby (Gate and null) + sternguard? deep striking, rerolling saves, ignoring cover/ ap3/ hellfire/ rapidfire, combiweapon hell.
and only 400 for full combi squad + base libby.

Vanilla marines double force org
Vulcan hestan
Lysander
Librarian with null zone
10 assult termites with thunder hammer, and storm shield.
Vulcan makes them all master crafted hammers, Lysander sits up front and soaks up damage with 4 2+3++ eternal warrior, and librarian makes enemies rerolling only type of Dave their getting vs my hammers.
Of couse the total points is like 900 more points.

Why would you ever give the crusaders swords? They are already I1, take advantage of it.
