I here people saying Space Marines but it better not be! Space Marines are fine for this now but, see if my Tyranids don't get updated next, I will rage until the end of my days! What do you think will be the next codex and what do you want to appear in it?

They are coming! I feel them scratching inside my mind, scratching, screaming, running, so many...so, so many voices. They're coming for us - flesh, body and soul!

What do you get if you attach a laser sight to a Lasgun? Twin-linked!

I'd like a Guard update purely so that they would release plastic steel legion/DKOK. However, i can imagine that with a space marine release they would also bring out some cool pre-heresy armour variants, similar to what they did with Chaos.

2000+ pts Dark Angels
1500pts Death Korps of Krieg
1000 pts Night Lords

Yeah, I love the new CSM models (except the Mutilators those guys). I don't want the SM to get Pre-Heresy variants because they are newer and the CSM haven't really updated their armour much. DKOK would be exciting to see with rules and everything

Well, the codexes (codices? Do we care what language it came from if we're using it in English now anyway?) that desperately need updating at the moment (in some rough order of importance) are:

Sisters of Battle
Black Templars
Orks/Tyranids/Space Marines...I have no idea how to sort this one out, and trying to would just get people mad at me.
Chaos Space Marines (yes I know they just had one, but it was kind of...not good. I think GW should just pretend that never happened and write it again from scratch. it would really just be be more fun for everyone)

Tyranids still have at least one good build, but they probably have the least interaction with the new rule set (although having the codes with units that can assault from reserves is a kick in the wingding to your opponent).

Orks have some ways of handling modern threats, but they don't seem to have much in the way of effective builds anymore (and the change to furious charge/fleet kicked them in the wingding).

Space Marines are pretty bad at the moment, but I just don't feel the "please help me I suck!" vibe from their codex as bad as I do from Orks or (maybe...stretching it) Tyranids.

I'd like to see Tyranids up next on deck, since they're my second favorite army and my regular opponent plays them, so unless they're designed as "the anti-tau" (a position which seems to have fallen on Eldar, whether from actual effectiveness or lack of anyone better to give it to I honestly don't know) then I would enjoy some more competitive games. Also, random siude note, but Eldar alied with Tau vs Tau allied with Eldar would be a battle report I would pay money to see (Taudar vs Eldau???)

Dang but I'm in rare form tonight. I seem to be under the delusion that my posts are humorous/entertaining again. You know what that means, tome to stop posting on Dakka drunk!

Most of the rumors say space marines. So I think space marines. Though some rumors say orks or tyranids next, so meh.

There is very strong rumor mongering that C:SM is indeed next.

You may say they are fine but they are now even more overcosted than at the end of 5th edition.

We don't really need any new units (although i would love to get a new true Main Battle Tank), but almost every unit needs a points adjustment.

What the next codex is? We don't know. As you said, it's rumoured to be SM, or BT. My guess us Nids, will not get a new dex untill 2014 Q1 the earliest. Remember we got our last codex in 2010, so only 3 1/2 years ago. We be lucky if we get a release for early 2014.

All you can do is be patient. Even if you are not patient, you will still have to wait so basically nothing we can do.

What would I like to see? Tyranids of course lol. I would also like to see Orks as well. Don't care for the rest.

Well except maybe Necrons. I believe they need a 6th edition codex so they can have cheaper units, like almost all the new codexs got. (Ok I was kidding there guys, don't get your knickers tied into a knot now)

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

From a point of what armies need it most:
1. Templars
2. Sisters
3. Orks/Blood Angels/Tyranids(Dark Eldar?)
4. Space Marines/Grey Knights/Space Wolves/(Dark Eldar?)

The current guard codex works brilliantly in 6th. Necons were a "5th edition" codex, though nearly every ability in it streams flawlessly in 6th. Dark Eldar I don't know enough about to put them in a spot. I've heard that jink hurt their "I'm a special flower" thing, and that like the other 2 6+ save assault armies, they were kicked in the teeth thanks to the changes in 6th. Venoms are still awesome, ravagers are still awesome, their fliers seem to be ok, and aside from some of their mediocre HQ's I really dont see much needs to be done for them.

Now from a point of what is likely?
1. Space marines
2. Orks+2x Marine Supplements
3. IG+2x Marine Supplement
4. Templars + Marine Supplement/Ork Supplment/2x IG supplement

Army most in need of an update: Sisters of Battle.
Army least likely to get update: Sisters of Battle.
Army most likely to get next update: Space Marines.
Army most likely to get updated after that: Orks, then Tyranids.

Not sure where Imperial Guard fit in. I can't guess at that, but they need an update as well.

Is the guard dex really that old? Maybe it's just me getting older...

But yes, Space Marines are probably next.

And I'd like to see a real Sisters codex (with plastic kits!)

I'm trying to remember when Blood Angels came out, but I'd be very surprised if GW did two marine releases back to back.

Orks - "Da Rust Gitz" : 3000 pts
Empire - "Nordland Expeditionary Corps" : 3000 pts
Dwarfs - "Sons of Magni" 2000 points
Cygnar - "Black Swan" 100 pts
Trollbloods - "The Brotherhood"
Haqqislam- "Al-Istathaan": 300 points
Commonwealth - Desert Rats /2nd New Zealand 1000 points

when the bolded happens the world will have stopped turning and the sun switched off lol....

SM is next as far as the rumour mill goes, BT apparently are near ( as always) nids were Q1 2014 and orks were after marines.

CSM 20,000 Pts
Daemons 4,000 (ish)
WoC over 10,000
6000+ Pts

I'd love to see Tyranids and Dark Eldar get theirs. DE should be a quick fix without too many changes.

I'm also really hoping SMs don't get a generic codex. I like the 'one chapter at a time, without a core codex' pattern.
Though it would have been nicer to give them ONE codex, but then release variant chapter rules as codex supplements, freeing up the release schedule they way it should be.

I think we're going to see a codex for SM, Orks, Tyranids, IG, GK, BT, and then throw in something random like a redo of Gothic, then a bunch of supplements, an Ultramarine Codex (separate from the generic SM codex) a Helldrake Codex, Necrons and then they'll say, "Okay we can squeeze SOB in now," and instead give us some new Ultramarine crap. At this point, I think you'd have to have a gun to their head to make them do anything with SOB and even then they'd try to negotiate.

Look at the dates in the codexes

Black Templars - 2005
Imperial Guard - 2008
Tyranids - 2009
Blood Angels - 2009
Space Wolves - 2009
Dark eldar - 2010
Grey Knights - 2010
Necron - 2011

These are just the dates of Codex's I have access to.

The dates are usually the year before they are released I think, as The 2 new Chaos codex's have 2012 in them

I wanted to start a Sisters army alongside my Elder and build them together so I'd have 2 very different and aesthetically pleasing armies to run but this whole - "What do you mean there was no update? We put it in White Dwarf and you get them on EBay for $50 US each! There's only two of them." - bs is exactly why it didn't happen. can we please just get a real Codex for the Ladies. Maybe then GW can get off it's lazy ass and pretend like they want to make plastics for the "rush" of new Sisters players.

What? No, Orks were a tail end of 4e release, years after the BTs.

The DE book has aged...poorly...shame, it has nice fluff and lovely models.

Still with a book every 2 months I think this will be an edition where every army gets a shiny new codex.

Time for them to have their own Codex to deal with all of this foul unions...

I think Orks are getting an update, I've heard some rumours about a plastic meganobs/teleporta nobs kit and a grot character.
I'm not sure how true they are though...

I can see it now....Nids are now a collection of autonomous hive fleets there are multiple Hive Minds and they all war with one another in addition to everyone else. They speak to humans using telepathy, and they can now ally with Space Wolves as battle brothers, because reasons.
Tyranids talking to humans would be like you talking to your mashed potatoes or the probiotic in your kiefer drink. It is neither possible nor productive.

When and where? I haven't seen hide nor hair of that rumor.

Marines are rumored, and as much as I love my IG, they're fine for now. Sure I'd love to see another regiment in plastic or Stormtroopers, but the rules are still solid enough as they are. Their codex came out in 2009, so while it's showing age here and there, it's still fairly powerful and you can field certain armies in a pretty fluffy fashion. There is a rumor of a Catachan supplement coming out when the codex gets an update though, which I like a lot. Planet Rambo is my favorite planet.

I also doubt we'll ever see anything like Codex: Inquisition. Hearsay and all, but I remember a couple years ago one of the GW guys at a panel talked about how they went kind of Inquisition-crazy in the early 2000s (Witch Hunters, Daemon Hunters, the Eisenhorn novels, and the Inquisitor 54mm game) and needed to wind that back. I don't disagree, as cool as I find that stuff.

Not rules-wise. The weakness of the SoB Codex is in lack of options and boring choices, the BT Codex weakness lies in the fact that there are no units that are better than "okay-ish" and a whole lot of them that are just rubbish. The main argument for Sisters needing an update is their all-metal models and hard-to-find Codex, but the rules themselves aren't the worst, even though they're far from perfect.

BT just need a good codex and maybe one or two more models. SOB need an entire OVERHAUL from scratch. Every figure needs to be replaced or at the least finecast and also there needs to be more units added. There aren't any choices really.

Still, I won't complain about a SM codex. I love my Imperial Fist army and if they get some new tricks, I won't complain.
