Hello there,
I was wondering if anyone knew a really good way to paint marble, it is only for the base of a one-off model, so can be as time consuming as you will, or if anyone knows an alternative courtyard material (I think stone would be a little boring however).

There is an automotive paint marbling technique. basically you paint a base colour, then apply a heavy, extremely wet coat of a contrasting/complementing colour over it.
Then while the second coat is still wet , press some polythene sheeting into it( plastic bags are great here), then peel it off immediately. This can be repeated with as many layers as you like. This method works extremely well with automotive paints, but I have never tried it with acrylics, I might do it tomorrow as I'm now curious.

Hi, I am no expert and I know that there are tutorials out there on Dakka Dakka.
I go for a nice base colour, this can vary. Then you want a long bristled brush, I paint a ribbon of paint across the surface, I hold the brush by the end and twist it back and forth as I drag it across the surface, this creates a random thread of paint. Then let it dry a bit. Dont let it dry completely, then with a dry brush, sweep across the ribbon of paint dragging the paint. Then ( and this is a personal thing) I run another ribbon of metalic paint randomly along the same line as the other.
Here is a pic of what I have achieved with this. Like I say I am no expert and there are people who do way better than me.
Hope this helps.
