Jain zar is underwhelming mainly due to average strength (even with shred) and the fact that her main durability lies in challenges. Killing TEQ is not her thing - its a good what to get her killed. Too many fists/hammers and a single refused challenge will likely see her die in this environment. That said, she is great MEQ crowd control thanks to silent death and her combat ability. But for her points, she is out done in combat by at least 2 - if not 3 - of the other lords.

The Lords are good squad munchers, but generally you have to look at their tricks and synergies to make them worth including. These generally amount to more than 'put with own aspect type'.

To share some Baharroth trickery as an example. You have 5 D-Scythes and a Battlefocus Spiritseer in a Waveserpent. Great spearhead for getting to the battleline and wiping a unit turn two, but vulnerable to all sorts of retaliatory counter attacks.

However you have Baharroth starting on the table and skyleaping into ongoing reserves turn one. Waveserpent goes flat out turn one. Second turn, Baharroth enters play, potentially blinding some enemies plus grenade pack, Wraithguard disembark or walk if serpent destroyed to within 2", they become one unit at the end of the movement phase. Unit then battlefocuses D6+1 if needed, template spam a dangerous/non blinded unit. stick Baharroth at front.

Next turn opposing player hopefully has some of his army blind, and instead planting his feat and being able to remove 5 42 point models with krak rounds/ battlecannons, Blastmasters etc you have the 2+ save to tank them, and a T6 4++ 3W EW to tank the AP1 or 2 instead of no save.

Vs assault, the unit deals damage back, can tank the same, and can importantly hit and run out of combat to keep their D-Scythes humming.

What is a simple equation to deal with becomes a lot more complicated for an opponent to solve, for much less points and footprint than taking a second unit of Scythes in another serpent, and it's very easily repeatable.

As a bonus non PL tip, your spiritseer with Voice of Twilight should always be equipped with the Spirit Stone of Anath'lan to facilitate casting a second power. This can lead to interesting cases like +4" to run move, healing for Baharroth, 2+ Wraithguard, +1 str fir Baharroth, yadda yadda

Or just take asurmen, jain zar, and Karandras with a unit of dire avengers for some deathstar lulz.

Yes. He can remove from play Eternal Warriors for maximum hilarity.

I have been using Baharroth lately and I must say that he is most definitely not the best. He kind of plays like the Doom of Malan'tai...hit or miss...game changer or not. He's kind of counter-intuitive...Hawks want to be about 24" away and Baharroth likes to come own within 6." I often end up splitting him off separately. He's decent in melee...but just decent.

Asurman is going to give you the biggest bang for your buck...I personally like the idea of him with Scorpions. Scorpion counterattack is just filthy.

Karandras and Fuegan are beatsticks...big heavy beatsticks well worth their points if you build the army to ensuring they get where they need to be.

I really think the Lords depend largely on the Exarchs in the squads they're in.

This makes him Boss in an Iyanden list.

multiple (IC) seers in a single HQ slot paired with him. He gets to benefit from wraithguard's T6, while providing them with a 2+/4++ tank for ranged fire.

They provide an excellent launch point for assaults. His D3 warlord traits have potential to help out wraithguard/blades, and with several spiritseers, you increase your chance to get horrify/embolden. Add on, you can pick and choose where your spiritseers attach, including attaching two to the same unit.

I will be doing this. Hope it works as well as it looks to.

Oh - and I guess adding +1 S to Asurmen isn't bad....
