I was wondering what the general consensus is. Two of the most succesful Necron players in my area spam the heck out of Warriors, Immortals with Gaus weapons, destroyers and a liberal spinkling of Lords with res orbs. One also uses Wraiths backed up by a Shard and Destroyer Lord with a War Scythe. I have seen these two table multiple opponents in tournaments using just those units coupled with some of the new character Necron Lords.
Does anyone else here use this approach?

I do, except I do it differently...

Either Imotekh/Nemesor and Vargard.... I have 2 - 3 20 warrior squads, backed up by res orbs, have Veilteks (can teleport said Warrior squads) and Ghost Arks to make these blobs nigh unstoppable. I only have one flyer, no wraiths, 5 destroyers, Triarch stalker, and I'm thinking to include a Monolith.

Reasons:

Do you have an enemy squad look set to destroy your whole army? Use my veiltek to teleport 20 warriors near to this enemy squad, shoot them with a triarch stalker (hence giving them twinlinked) if it is a Tank, give them tank hunters via Nemesor. And that unit is now gone, hopefully for First Blood. If not, use destroyers to mop up. Next turn, deep strike your Monolith in the face of the enemy, and use the portal to bring another 20 man squad in... teleport the rest in too. Tyrn 2, you've got quite a resilient army in your face, all with mass fire and capabilities to destroy any enemy, tank or infantry. Scarabs and Spyders are also handy here.

It's a good strategy to me...

I love the Royal court disco inferno. It's not very effective unless very lucky especially when paying objective but Trazyn is a very helpful anti-tarpit and can claim objective plus he will never die. However I have 50-50 victory rate but 100% fun watching the opponent throwing injuries and yelling when all those 4+ RP go off. I mean I have such a great fun teleporting the party around the table and blasting eveyrhing. I usually like to teleport in from reserve in the bottom of the enemy overlord (especially tau, hell i hate those aliens, there is no fun playing them) and smiling before blasting him with a gozzilion SoL AP3 shots. Who needs Anti armour? just use a tonn of mindshackle and watch the termies powerfistig themselves to death. the only problem is a flying party but in that case i simply ignore the flying units and concentrate on the others or hope in the hel of Lady luck... That might sound wierd but my WH40k battle are a huge fun...

on the forum. Obviously

Monolith + warrior blob still works well.

I know many people frown upon using Deep Strike, but it's actually very useful.

Warrior blob (just meaning A LOT of them) + Monolith Wall + Ghost Arks. Not UBER competitive, but fun as hell to watch people struggle to kill you as you camp objectives, teleport around, and glance LRs to death. 3 Annihilation Barges for AA and Lord w/Scythe and MSS on CCB to rek shti

Quoted Cthulu for similar idea

I personally like to use the monolith as a stormtek delivery system, often escorted by gauss immortals. I once murdered a guy's skull cannon in his own lines. It was fun.

I was tempted to try out warriors first, but the 4+ save bothers me a bit. It probably works better than my load out though.
