Hello everyone!

I just wanted to post an announcement about the Brawl in the Fall IV! This single-day, three round tournament will be held on Saturday, October 12th at the Veterans Memorial Building in Clovis, CA. 1750-point army lists, and FW is allowed (as long as you bring the relevant book for anything you're using, sorry, no pdfs!).

We typically have a turnout of around 30 players, which is about what we've got space for, so if you want to come, reserve your spot sooner instead of later! Pre-registration cost is $30. PM me for Paypal info. You can check out the website at www.brawlinthefall.com. Rules and scenarios should be updated by the end of the week, and sponsors will be updated as they come in!

Thanks,

Mark

Glad to hear it! Pre-registration is going on now, and ends on October 5th. Pre-reg price is $30, but assuming there are still open slots, you can pay at the door on the day of the tournament for $35.

If you need payment info, shoot me a PM.

Thanks!

I just wanted to give everyone an update on preparations for the Brawl.

Rules and scenarios will be updated on the website sometime this weekend. The rules are pretty much the same as the 2012 rules that are currently posted; there will be a few tweaks to them but nothing major. The scenarios will be similar to those used by Frontline Gaming in the Bay Area Open as far as structure.

Probably the biggest change is that we will be allowing Forge World units, as long as the player has the relevant book (no pdfs, as there are a number of different versions of some of those items floating around out there).

Thus far, the following companies have graciously agreed to help sponsor the event:

Secret Weapon Miniatures
Max Mini
Laser Cut Card
Angry Badger Online

With hopefully more to come!

Thanks,

Mark

Hello, I've got another update for the Brawl in the Fall!

We have an updated list of sponsors on the website. In addition to the ones listed, I just confirmed today that Micro-Art Studios (great terrain and accessories) and Bob Smith Industries (manufacturers of hobby adhesives) will be helping to sponsor the Brawl. I've also attached the tournament rules and scenarios to this post, so look them over, and if you have any questions, or find any typos (I've read over these things so many times that I'd have a hard time finding them even if they were highlighted in pink!) let me know here. You can find additional tournament information at our site below:

http://www.brawlinthefall.com/index.html

We also have a few more things in the works regarding sponsorship, so I expect to be able to add to that list of generous contributors.

Pre-registration IS open. Cost is $30, and includes the following: Admission into the Brawl, and three games, Brawl in the Fall T-Shirt and dice, discount coupons from many of the sponsors, and door prizes. As anyone who has participated in the last three years can tell you, one of the things that has really helped to set our event apart from many of the others is the fact that for each of the past three years, EVERY player has received some sort of door prize. The only other one that I've ever attended that's even come close to that is Da Grand Waaaaagh in Alameda.

You may pre-register in one of two ways: If you'd like to send me the money via Paypal, send me a PM, and I will give you the payment information, as we're not currently set up to do it through our website. Or, if you're local and would like to, you may go to Hobbytown USA in Fresno, CA and pay at the front register.

In either case, if you're planning on playing, make sure that you pre-register sooner instead of later. We only have about 30 slots, and they are moving quickly.

Thanks, and I'll post more updates as I have them,

Mark

Hello everyone,

Registration for Brawl in the Fall is full, and is therefore closed. If you've registered, please contact me of or details on how to send in your army lists for verification.

Also, make sure you check the website (www.brawlinthefall.com) for the latest updates to rules and missions. One thing to note is that we did revise the mission scoring structure, so be sure to look it over.

Thanks, and I look forward to seeing everyone there!

I heard it was a blast! All of the guys from our team that went came back saying it was another awesome year at Brawl in the Fall!

Wish I could have gone but I was sick and someone had to watch the shop.

Thanks for the compliments guys, we really appreciate it! Sorry for the delay in announcing the winners (insane work week!) but here they are:

Best Overall: Ryan Murphy
Best General: Paul McKelvey
Player's Choice: Lizz Foster
Best Sportsman: Travis Kirk
Plan 9 Award: Franklin Esparza

Thanks to all who participated, our awesome team of Doug, MIchelle and Joel Reyes, and Matt Holcomb. Also, a big shout-out to our sponsors:

Powered Play Gaming (Thanks to Chris and Chris for not only supporting the tournament, but for showing up not only to demo for us, but for helping out as well!)
Mr. Dandy/Wargamma(James Hakola)
Bob Smith Industries
Woodland Scenics
Lone Wolf Development
Micro-Art Studios
MaxMini.eu
Angry Badger Online (awesome custom-lasercut landing pad and defense walls!)
Polymeric Systems Inc.
Kraftmark
Secret Weapon Miniatures
Laser Cut Card
and of course
Hobbytown USA, Fresno, CA

We really couldn't have done it without the support of all of the folks above. For those of you who played in the tournament, please show these folks how much you appreciate their help, and even if you didn't play in the tournament, I encourage everyone to patronize these companies. Their generosity and willingness to help out really went above and beyond, and I can vouch for the quality of their products personally

Thanks again!

Mark

My long detailed post about how great the tournament was and how handsome and smart the organizers were was eaten by the forums monster, so I'll have to rewrite it in the near future. However, I wanted to say that BitF was a ton of fun, and I do tend to go to a lot of tournaments. They have fantastic prize support, a raffle where everyone won something, a nice clean place to play (very underrated) where I didn't have to rub my butt against anyone unless I wanted to, and just generally well organized and fun to attend - I've already marked it on my tournament calendar for next year.

I do have specifics to add when I repost but for what its worth I give this tournament 9 out of 10 stars, the 1 star for it being in Fresno when I live in Sacramento. If there could be a Brawl in the Fall shuttle, or maybe some kind of chartered flight/bullet train implemented for next year I think that might push you over the top and get that 10th star.

Great work guys! See you next year!

I hear it's on Governor Brown's "To Do" list ... but like year 2020.
