Hey guys,
Hoping this is the correct forum to post this on, apologies if it isn't.

Anyways, I am looking into buying a KR Multicase as I have pretty much only heard good things about them, but I have a couple of questions for anyone who knows a bit more or have dealt with KR in the past.

Firstly, I was wondering how long it normally takes for them to get back to e-mails. I've heard they have very good customer service and help you sort out your foam inserts and what case is best for you if you e-mail them, however I emailed them on Monday and haven't yet had a response.

My other question is along the same lines. I am torn between getting the Kaiser 2 or Kaiser 3. I am building a 40k Chaos Space Marines army, and although small at the moment as I have only been playing for a month or so, I want to get one to fit enough of an army to field 2k points or so. So basically I was wondering how much it is possible to fit in the double, and if that would be big enough, or if the triple is the way to go.

Hope this all makes sense, and thanks in advance ^^

The one e-mail exchange I had with them had a turn around of about a day or so between replies. Now this was back in march. I'm not sure if they have a presence at any of the gaming conventions, but a lot of companies do, and it's that time of year. If you sent it after normal business hours on monday, I might give them until tomorrow. If not, just send a polite repeat e-mail.

As for the size, that depends a lot of what your army is composed of, and if you magnetized things. As an example, from a loyalist POV, I can fit 3 rhinos in the same space in a KRU as one drop pod. There is no way I can fit a pod heavy list into a kaiser 2. On the other hand, if I'm running a bike/terminator list, I may be able to fit a whole 2k army into one case.

Our group has dealt with KR several times and all contacts with KR have all been very quick and good (definately a week or less). They are very easy to deal with. If you don't hear by tomorrow, I'd shoot another email - maybe the first got lost or undelivered? What address did you send to?

On the size case, you might first want to figure out what you want to run in chaos. I have several armies and you can do very tiny(model count wise and no large models) and elite for those points (takes up one to two trays with room to spare) or extrememly large (big minis and high model count) and blobish. Heldrakes, mauler fiends and cultists are very space consuming, while thousand sons, noise marines, termies and havocs aren't. Have an idea which way you are leaning? If elite, definately the K2, otherwise you might need K3 or even K4.

Hey guys thanks for the responses!
I'll definately send another e-mail their way, maybe start of next week if I haven't heard then!

As for what kind of army I'm going for...I'm building a Tzeentch army I think, so thousand sons are on the agenda, however I am planning on getting a heldrake, few rhinos. Not sure whether I'm going with cultists or not.

So by the sounds of it the K3 might be the best option...

From their Facebook Page:

"The KR UK factory has undergone some significant changes in layout and organisation over the past few weeks. Responses to emails and enquiries have been a little slower than intended over that time too - apologies for that. We should now have a reply time within 2 working days to queries. The prime route (and hence quickest) for enquiries will be the sales@krmulticase.co.uk for UK/EU/RoW enquiries (USA factory is unchanged). The changes will settle in during July and along with some major website and further factory revisions this summer will see KR ready for the future."

That was back on 8 July, but its probably still valid.

They've been busy, and promised releases and updates have had to be put back.
Not that I've emailed them since March, but that took a couple of days to be replied to.

As for what you need to buy for your army, this page shows the sets for your army:
http://www.krmulticase.com/trays.aspx?type=L&showsets=Y&system=WH40K&army=CM&d=1
Each set fits a cardboard box, which is a single 'Kaiser'. 3 sets fits into a Kaiser 3.
A single set can hold up to around 100 Marines, or 2 Battleforces.

In addition to what others have said, KR is built around a modular system ... purchase the more affordable card cases to hold your softer foam and miniatures, and collect as many as you need until your army is "done."

The card cases have handles, are durable, and themselves make excellent short term carrying options. I might suggest procuring card cases until your army is complete, and then buying the Kaiser you require at that point (2 or 3). As you expand extra minis or a new army, you just keep going With the card cases, which are easy to rack and stack for storing, and slot in whichever two or three you want to take with you in your Kaiser 2 or 3 for any given game night or weekend.

There are savings to be had by picking up a filled case, rather then an empty one. If you can plan ahead and look at what you are getting in the future, you can save some bucks.

Also bear in mind that its now in the middle of war game show season, and KR attend a hell of a lot of shows this time of year (here in the UK, europe and in the US), so that can also slow up replys to emails. you can also order and enquire about KR cases from lesleys bits box, as they sell KR case's (and are close friends with KR's owner)
http://www.lesleysbitsbox.co.uk/contact.html
And if you ever get the chance to meet the owner at a wargames show, hes a damm nice guy, and is always very helpfully with giving you the best options for your armies needs, but be warned his stall is always very busy

One thing, as above, is that you don't have to buy direct.
See what your FLGS can get for you, even if it's just standard trays and a case. Fill the rest of it it later, and just use empty boxes in the bottom to jack up the trays.

You might want to check with your FLGS and see what sort of minimum orders they need to place. I was talking with the guy who owns mine, and he was glad to place an order for me, but needed to get $250 before he could, IIRC. One of the reasons I'm holding off on placing a big order is I'm waiting to see what I need for my Eldar army, and to see if they get foam cut for the crimson hunter. I'd rather get everything in one lump, rather then force him to order random stuff as filler for my order, that my or may not rot on the shelf.

If it wasn't for my FLGS, I wouldn't need to get foam, as I'd only (not) play on the table in my basement. So I like to make things as easy for him as possible. And give him what support I can.

This, plan ahead and buy what you need, I currently have 4 cases, two alu and two card and would have much preferred to buy a larger one at the start

I agree with MarkyMark...

But if you are still thinking Kaiser 2 (and it sounds like you are thinking K3), I would recommend going with the backpack instead. It's incredibly convenient.

However, if you are going to be carrying more than 2 card trays I would definitely recommend the K3. I have several KR cases and I am incredibly happy with them.

However, also note they are an advertiser on our show - so I may be slightly biased. But I HAVE been impressed with everything I have purchased from them, including their prices.

I asked them in mid-June about the Eldar fliers tray on their Facebook page, and I got told it should be available early July.
They've not updated in the past week, when I queried it.
I've a big order to put in with them too, but it's waiting for that tray.

Took delivery of my first (and last) kr multicase. Placed an order for a case for with 3 inserts for troops filling one half and an insert for holding 2 transports in the other half. After not hearing anything for 3 weeks after placing the order apart from the automated 'thanks for your order....' email and messaging to see when it was going to be sent out i thought enough is enough and opened a paypal dispute as thought i was going to get ripped off. Get a response it will be sent out that day and in fairness it arrived the following day (3 weeks and 2 days after placing the order) but that wasnt the worse part.
The case itself if, well frankly, crap. A cardboard box with some sponge in it. The trays for troops have all dried up globs of glue all over them and the foam for holding the transports is just a block of sponge that looks like its been stabbed and sliced quite a few times. No shapes been cut out of it like the illustrations on the website, its just a block of sponge with loads of random slices cut into it.. The handle doesnt fit through the cardboard when its closed so carrying it would be fun as well. Have been ripped off in the past but this one just takes the biscuit. As i dont have a huge army just wanted something cheap and cheerful that could use to take them back and forth to my local club but £25 for this piece of junk just takes the p1ss. The 'foam' is awful quality, picked up better quality sponges for washing the car from poundland and the 'case', well shouldnt even be called that its just a cardboard box and you could pick up something similar for free from a fruit and veg shop.
I know im in the minority here as lots of people are happy with their cases and have had good service from kr multicase (thats why i choose them to begin with) but for me personally i've learned the hard way and the hunt for a half decent case continues. I would have tried to sell it on but would just feel bad for someone parting with their money for it.

Nope, contacted them when i opened it. Not heard anything back and not expecting to either.
Just cut my losses, had a moan, moved on and will look for a different case at a reasonable price (or just make my own).

I had a pretty similar experience, The foam inserts i received were bigger than they were supposed to be, they sent me the wrong size, totally different foam to the ones I ordered and when I contacted them they claimed that the error was mine and that they they could not help me. Anyway I left them bad feedback on ebay and somehow they got it removed !! That really did take the biscuit and it makes me wonder how many other unsatisfied customers have had their feedback removed.
It now looks like they have never had any bad feedback at all and there for, no unhappy customers, which is rubbish !!!
Anyway I can safely say I will not be getting anything from them again.
I advise that anyone else buying KR foam should use someone like Troll trader or another dealer instead of KR themselves as their customer service was a joke.

I emailed them. I just cant be bothered with all the hassle of having to return it and wait for either a refund or replacement.
I am generally a 'glass is half full' person but just felt disappointed with this case after reading up on all the good things about them, and not really wanting to invest in a GW one as i feel they get enough of my money with all the miniatures and everything and like doing my bit to support independents wherever possible so i'll just let it go.

If anyone who has and like these cases so knows what to expect wants this one, drop me a pm and will sell it on for £20 posted (UK only paid £32.99). Contains 2 x f2h, 1 x n3h and whats supposed to have been ne7+ne15 bit is just a block of sponge that looks like its been randomly cut.

If its a case of return the. It's really not a hassle. It is a sellers responsibility to get any unsatisfactory products collected for the refund.

To the point of the product, have you not taken the unserts out? Of course the tray comes as a block of foam without the inserts or a model to go in the space it's not going to be well supported so could warp. Taking inserts out isn't a problem.

As to the glue, I have 8 vase from GW, BF and KR. They all have glue in evidence of one sort or another. It doesn't affect the utility and is easily cut off if there is a problem.

That's not to say this case isn't defective but a simple call will probably get the result you want. KR customer service has always been very good.

That was my first thought as well, sounds a lot like the inserts are still there. I've never ordered a custom tray so I don't know one way or the other if it usually ships with inserts but it could do.

Also, I checked on the site to add up the trays Cultist73 has and it seems that the listed trays are more than what's supposed to fit into one case - this could explain why he's having problems shutting the case as well - too much foam in there.

Also Cultist73, I don't get the comment on the cardboard case - it's not like there aren't pictures of the case across the KR website, so what did you expect would arrive? For actual travel to and from gaming the KR card case is supposed to go into one of the bags/rucksacks, for added protection. The card cases are more for storage.

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

You need the card cases for use with the bags but not the hard aluminium cases.

F2H is [1/2 height, 1/2 width]
N3H is [1/3 height, 1/2 width]
The custom tray is [Full height, 1/2 width
So, you're 1/3 of a half-side too many.

The cardboard cases are supposed to be carried in the Kaiser bags.
They're left basic for storage, and you slot the boxes you want that day in the Kaiser carry bags, which do the job of keeping the cardboard protected.

In case the custom tray isn't the same as the ones I got for my Eldar, they cut the tray, but leave the bits in. It doesn't look like they've done anything, but it should just wiggle out. I use the extra bits as padding, so I prefer it to come that way.
You pull them out, and any extras if it's an optional size tray.

But, as for customer service, it looks like they're a victim of their success, and the show-season will have swamped them with orders.
A pity, as I have orders to place when they eventually release their trays for the new Tau and Eldar.

I have 18 of their cases.

16 card cases, one single metal and a double metal plus a double case carrying bag.

I have since dumped the 10 GW cases I used to have.

I use them weekly and for overseas flights to the UK to carry my miniatures and not had any damage yet. The fact they can survive Ryanair says alot...

Cant recommend them highly enough to be honest.

Must have just been my sucky luck then and wrote them off too soo so will man up and apologise for that. Not really an excuse but am shaking off a chest infection and feeling overly sensitive.

My mistake, the case contains 2 x F3H and 1 x N3H, not an F2H like i stated. So half of the case contains NE7+NE15 and the other half contains F3H x 2 and N3H.
I'll have a look tomorrow to see if there are any bits in there that wiggle out.

I said about it to some colleagues who got me into the whole 40k thing to begin with and they sounded surprised when i said about it so i've either caught them on a bad day and will give them the benefit of the doubt and order another case for the wifes chaos daemons or as it is there is a guy who visits out club once a month selling paints/brushes etc. and just found out he has started selling kr cases so will have a look at some more in the flesh to see how they compare.

I recently (about a month ago) ordered their 1200 wheeled case, complete with the 6 cases of custom foam as I have had one of their double aluminium cases for a while. I submitted the order and realised I had added the wrong final box (I had so many notes I got them mixed up!) so I sent them a quick email to ask if it could be changed.
After a bit of a wait (I believe they were having some "issues" where someone wasn't pulling their weight fullfilling orders) I recieved the case however the metal plate on the door had been badly damaged in transit, I phoned them and was told that another one would be sent out asap and also if UPS wouldn't return the damaged one I could keep it!
He also didn't have one of the trays in stock so he sent a similar one in the case and then sent out the required ones afterwards.
Within a couple of days I had a brand new (VERY well packed) case in perfect condition and I soon after recieved the other foam.
I'm very pleased with how the situation was handled and am very pleased with the case. I would recomend them to anyone, if there is any problem give them a phone as they are very easy to deal with.

Cheers
