Weapons: 2 Titan powerfists, 2 Volcano cannons, 2 turbo lasers
*Going by space marines where 1 inch = 2.5 meters (the model is 24 inches tall) the model is 60 meters tall.
Any and all criticism will help me adjust it, if you post negative criticism also post ways to improve upon the stats and the overall balance. (for apocalypse that is)
To my knowledge there's no fluff involving warlords this old but just roll with it, in the 40k 'verse there's probably something like this.
To those curious the model uses reaver powerfists underneath the volcano cannons.
Yes I realize how durable this thing is. It's from the Dark Age where man had technology greater than the elder. It would be dramatically tougher than an modern titan of the same size.
1st edit: Changing AV 15 on front and sides to AV 14 and AV 12 on rear to AV 13. Added 1 SP

How bout AV 14 front & sides & AV 13 rear? I'm just trying to show the fact that titans this size have 1.5 meters or adamantium armor on every facet.

It shouldn't have 4 arm systems and 2 carapace systems. It should keep two arm weapon systems and 2 carapace, but being from the dark age of technology, those weapon systems should be very powerful though.

Okay how bout these for arms:
Dark Age Nova Cannon: S: D, 15inch blast, heavy 1, unwieldly, Gets Hot!, scatters an extra d6 inches .When modeling this it would obviously be smaller than current nova cannons & I imagine the barrels length from the end of the arm to be 20 scale meters. (8 or so inches)
Gravitational Beam Emitter: S:10, 5inch blast, assault 8, AP:3 . This is basically meant to be a gatling gun kind of weapon. it would manipulate gravity to propel bullets at ridiculous speeds.

with Gets Hot!, an automatic 6 inches of deviation from target, and shooting at BS 3 w/ forced rerolls upon successful hits. A Get's hot will disable the weapon and take off a structure point.
It's not that bad,That's the truth of the matter & it can go bad for the Warlord pretty quickly. I'm trying to make it better than the volcano cannon and with all of the drawbacks that the volcano cannon doesn't have it's not dramatically better.
Do you know a 12 or 13inch template I could use?

6 inches of deviation from a 15 inch template. Big freaking whoop. Even then you do not need to aim it.

Lose a structure point? Pfft. 1 out of 11.

Lose the weapon on a Gets Hot, also big whoop. A 1 in 6 chance for your army-erasing gun to not work.

You say it is not dramatically better and you're right. It is ludicrously better. It is the most clear example of an "I WIN" button I've seen on this board in a very long time.

If your army only takes up 225 square inches in a 6k-7k apocalypse game something's wrong. My group plays with rules where on the S: D table the 6 doesn't exist. It's 1 and then 2-6. So no one shotting Baneblades with D6 +6 hull points damage. Plus do you know a 12-13 inch template. You're not following the rules I set. Tell me how to improve the weapon so it's a bit better than a volcano cannon, just be useful. Negative criticism is fine if it's kept constructive.

Think of it like this; if you make a custom unit thats extremely powerful, then theres no amount of 'buts' that can make up for that.

"Sure, its S D 15" blast etc etc, BUT it's very expensive and has gets hot and this and that to make up for it" isn't gonna cut it.

Believe it or not, people don't like setting aside a whole day, transporting all their minis etc to an event just to remove 15" worth of them every turn to your supertitan. Thats something we call "not fun" for everyone but you.

Hopefully you would have MC's, titans of your own, multi wound mooks, that the S couldn't instantly kill. Mathematically it's about as good as 1.5 volcano cannons. It has a little over twice the surface area w/ a possibility to deviate 10+ inches, 6 guaranteed, & the possibility to blow up in the Warlord's face. There are better weapons than this though they are rare (plasma annihilator, phantom titan weapons)& a price of 3500 is very restrictive. GW dice have a proven tendency to roll 1 a whole hell of a lot more than 1/6 of the time due to something involving the surfaces. Plus 3500 points is a big restrictor on the rest of the army in a typical apocalypse game. Plus the "buts" add up really quickly into making something unusable. If I would give you a 100 dollars for a tac. space marine but would also knee you in the groin 30 times. Doesn't seem undoable so far? I'll also break one of your toes. Now? I'll also be taking that girlfriend. This is the same principle in broad terms. The "buts" add up really quickly. That much is true.
If you want to help give me an idea for a weapon that's better than a volcano cannon, it would be helpful, If this was the final arm weapon I would have put it on the edits page.
Someone toss me something better than a volcano cannon and if everyone else likes it I'll put it on.
We could just go back to two Volcano Cannons & 2 titan powerfists.

The blast can deviate so much that it can hit your own guys 18inches away & kill them. Plus on a 10X10 table that I would play apocalypse on if my opponent is smart 15inch blast wont give much more of an advantage than a 10inch blast. These things I'm saying are facts. Don't you ever call my gak "mary sue". I'm not kidding there. Anyone else care to help me make a weapon between a plasma annihilator and volcano cannon in terms of quality. Or would you all be okay with playing against this prettied up titan as it is in the first post with the additional points primarily for added durability and multitasking? Please don't set this more off track than it already is.

I didn't ask just for opinions. I asked for ways to make this dolled up titan viable and balanced for a game of apocalypse with the average player. You've given negative comments without being specific or giving ways to improve it.
Stop arguing. You're not good at it, clearly. You actually said "buts" don't add up. That's the primary way of balancing 'mite. I said construcive comments only. You always go back on your points, dude stop talking, your mouth has no use to this topic if all you're gonna do is argue without knowing how to argue. Back on topic 'mite. Hello,

I would use a modified version of "gets hot" for this gun. Right now when it melts down it costs itself a hull point, which as had been pointed out it has 11 of them.

I think it should have a rule saying "gets very hot" or "goes supernova" that means that a gets hot result looses it D6 hull points, a more substantial loss.

Dakamite, In my experience of really, really big games (I admit all my really big games were fantasy, but I think the same principle holds) the game begins to drag on after about 5 hours and everyone just wants to see some carnage! That is why they put so many ridiculously killy things into appocalypse, to clear the field.

Anyway, thats my suggestion. I can't say much about balance as the scale has gone far above the region in which I feel like I can estimate these things.

Totally with Dakkamite here. The gun is just stupid overpowered. There is a reason that the Volcano Cannon is pretty much the best gun. The deviations you built in don't really change what it does. It requires absolutely no tactics or worry to use, as the template is so big that it'll always take a scoop out of your opponent's army.

The drawbacks you've built into it are false drawbacks. They do nothing to make other weapons more appealing, all they accomplish is giving you something to point at and say "look! It has drawbacks!" Given the model's overall durability and insane firepower, it goes beyond point cost, if you put it on the table, you win. Period. End of story.

The fluff is slapdash as well. The Eldar always out-technologied the Imperium. Saying that this is even better than Eldar tech reeks of Mary Sue.

This is something that small rules tweaks are not going to fix. This is something that should go back to the drawing board with. Start by making it equivalent to the existing Titans, then some research as to what has changed over the time between 30k and 40k to provide small variations from one to the other.

The weapon in question was a vague step in the dark surrounded by demonic Godzillas. I know it isn't viable and given feedback would never include it. Do you like the statline at the top of the thread w/ 2 power fists, 2 volcano cannons & 2 turbo lasers? This is moving way slower than it needs to

Warlords have four weapons; two in the carapace, and two in the arms.

I see no reason to deviate from this.

*Edit* You know all this needs?

One additional SP and one additional void shield. (From a normal Warlord, bringing it to 10 SP and 7 Void shields)

And, because its ancient and more advanced, may re-roll a single shot from a weapon of the player's choosing once per game.

And sure, WS4, because why not.

3500pts, done.

About as balanced as anything in Apoc at this scale can be.

1. Warlords didn't exist then (only fluff)

2. too many weapons

3. too many.points

4. no negative aspects at all? have you read Apoc titan rules? no close quarter rargeting of ranged weapons, movement limitations, etc. If this is the "Dark Age", this thing should be barely operating at all...

I love the helpful attitude but the changes over the standard warlord you listed dont add up to +1000 points (by Titan standards) If it was +500 or +750 it'd be perfect. Let's see what everyone else thinks. That could be the final version. In the meantime it's past midnight where I'm at and I'll check back in the morning.

Apocalypse, where the points are made up and the balance doesn't matter.

Seriously, in a 10k+ match a side...do you really think you'll care about that 500pts? Its Apoc, for the sake of your opponent, make it expensive and underpowered.

I mean, come on, its Apoc.

Small buffs, tack on the nearest 1000 figure points increase and go roll dice.

Seriously, its Apoc. Its probably the least balanced...anything I've ever seen as a whole.

This, so much this. If you want the privilege of running your own custom crap in a game, the least you can do in return is underpower it into an interesting sideshow rather than a board-clearing game changer.

Except, I have given you advice - that you cannot simply price your overpowered mary sue titan into acceptability. Your titan is ridiculous and making him 3500pts or 35000pts isn't gonna change that.

Everyone else is saying much the same stuff as I am. If your not going to listen to peoples suggestions and comments, and instead are going to badmouth them and make up random gak such as "you always go back on your points", don't bother posting your stuff up.

I know your type. You came here to get people to fawn over your latest creation, and can't handle it when they don't share your view of how awesome it is. Talking with someone like yourself in this instance is a waste of time. I'm out.

I wouldn't play against it. Destroyer weapons are generally too strong as it is, giving them 15" blast on an essentially indestructible platform is just too much.

The dark Age of technology isn't about making things super super super more powerful, it just means things worked better.

In this instance, how things would work better - in keeping with the fluff is - the thing is harder to killer, a couple more structure points and void shields, it should also be a little faster and maneuver better than your average Warlord titan, and lastly the weapons. You can make the weapons better by not making them super more powerful - also, as far as I'm aware things didn't get hot as much back then in the fluff, so maybe have it more fail safes than causing damage with gets hot.

For example, take a Volcano Cannon, have it with it's normal stat line, then give it two options to fire - normal mode which is it's normal shot, and rapid fire mode, which is 1+D3 shots in one turn firstly that added heat make it shut down the next turn, secondly it has gets hot also, on a roll of 6 the weapon shuts down for one turn automatically as usual, then it has a pyramid table of dice rolls for reactivation, so after it's automatic one turn cool down, it needs to roll a 6 to activate, then the turn after 4+, turn after that 2+, and you just keep rolling till it activates.

It is stupidly powerful granted, but with some really poor rolling it could be a one shot weapon, pretty big drawback I'd say yet doesn't damage the titan - other than it's damage output - which I don't believe in keeping with the fluff it should.

gets vey hot - on a roll of a 1 the blast is centered over the gun itself, doesn't scatter, remove the weapon permanently (no fixing!)
so the exceptionally ancient titan with the dramatically powerful, experimental gun has a chance that the gun just explodes - seems like a risk worth taking
