Thanks... Its not ideal but at the same time better than none. this list is actually a pretty restricted build. With 5 riptides eating about 2/3 of the points then obligatory farsight (for o'vesa) 3 crisis suits with bonding knives (for farsight enclaves) and an HQ and troops choice from Tau empire as well a further troops choice from Farsight Enclaves, believe it or not the 2 pathfinder teams are as large as i could reasonably get them. On the other hand the HBC riptides are tasked primairily for antiflier duty (and if there are no fliers left to then get in the way/not die) where as the ion accelerators plan to novacharge and drop S9 largeblasts on people. Neither of these uses 'need' markerlights per se. As such I am not too worried

Why Nova charge the Ion? S8 is all you'll need why the risk for S9 which makes so little difference, particularly as you're giving up firing your secondary weapon. Between Nova and gets hot you've then a 45% chance of not firing at all. Why the risk for basically no reward?

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

Haha thanks. 6th edition has really played into my hands never having been a fan of armies consisting of one of each unit type in a codex (ok exaggerated for effect but you know what i mean) or mech. At the moment I worry about CHAOS:
helldrake spam wiping out my troops/being pretty unkillable
Wholetthedogsoutlists (20-60 khorne hounds)
flying circus's
[arguably slaanesh although tbh they will have even more fragile troops than this list without the resistance of the riptides so i wouldnt say this is anywhere near autolose - might have to play this build soon could be quite close!]
obviously necrons (wraithspam, annihilaiton barge spam, flier spam or all of the above!)
balanced eldar but just because having not played the new codex they scare me and dark eldar allies are NOT good for T6....

on the other hand although it will struggle IMO it can survive most of these lists to an extent. And to answer your question about who will kill the night scythes - my other riptides

Your Riptides don't have any resiliance against Slaneesh Rush builds. Too much rending. They are fragile, but a Slaneesh rush list banks on numbers for durability, and you don't have the volume of fire to stop them all.

Riptides are actually pretty good against a Dogpound style list. Only the Heralds are really a threat. If a Khorne Dogpack is threatening your lines, it is sometimes a good idea to charge the Riptide in. Trust me, I run Khorne Dogs (a lot), and the only way I've killed Riptides with them is through multi assault. (which is actually my preferred way to kill a Riptide)

well obviously it depends what im shooting at. if im shooting at paladins i might not bother but as you yourself pointed out i may have a problem with AV14. if i novacharge str9 rolling two dice and picking the highest for armour pen (ordinance) poses some threat which str8 doesnt. It depends on situation. I take your point however. in addition on of the ion accelerator riptides: O'vesa has an earth caste pilot array and so has a much lower chance of not firing at all (about 24%). It's situational but thats what the nova reactor is good for...

Farisght enclaves do iirc however in the latest edition of the list there arent actually any farsight fire warriors...
