So, it's time we had one. Talk hockey!
I'm personally super stoked about this year. Big shuffle in the NHL with the conferences changing to two divisions each, and Detroit and Columbus heading to the East, while Winnepeg finally gets placed in the West.
I'm feeling Detroit has an extremely strong change of making a play for the Cup this year, especially with the moves they made in the Free Agency this year.

I'm super stoked too man.
The Wings ought to clean house on the East Coast.
I think the Blues are going to be good this year too... Not quite at Chicago's stature, but definitely closer. We traded one of our most inconsistent player Perron to Oilers for Paajarvi. That'll be interesting how this trade works out for both team.
I just wish they hurry up and sign Petrangelo.

Just felt like throwing this oh there, screw you Blackhawks ;p
Now that that's out of the way, I cannot wait to see wings vs bruins in the same division. If the redwings can do for the bruins what they did for the Blackhawks it'll be grand!

If the play-offs are anything to go by, the new hybrid icing rule is going to a great source of game-deciding stupidity!
I hope they give mics to those linesmen, because otherwise you'll only hear them in those rinks where you don't get more than a couple thousand fans showing up to the games.

No team could touch the Blackhawks on the Cup run. That thing with Detroit was just the Blackhawks feeling sorry for the Detroit fans because they have to live in Detroit, so they let the Red Wings get a 3-1 game lead. That was all they could afford to let them win though because the Blackhawks needed to advance. Should be a good year, if the Blackhawks win the cup again, that would make me happier than I already am, seeing as the Blackhawks won the cup (And the Presidents Trophy) in 2013! Geaux Blackhawks!

No one likes a braggart
With Columbus and Detroit moving to the east, my chances of seeing a Sens game have greatly increased! Now I just have to decide which gakhole to visit to go see them .
I'm thinking Columbus as it's closer, I don't have to deal with toll roads, the Sens have a better chance of winning, and well... it's not Detroit. With that being said, I've already been looking forward to the release of the Lake Erie Monsters' schedule so I can figure out when they play the Binghamton Senators . I'd like to see the Sens make a repeat of last year's performance (minus all the fething injuries!). Mostly I just want to have a better chance at seeing another playoff performance, they're so infrequent here in Cleveland

This! I was bummed to see Perron leave, but his inconsistancy has been a pain. And as for Paajarvi...I'm still on the fence. I'm sure he has potential, but his past couple seasons haven't been the best.

So I'm a Preds fan and I have to say I'm excited to see them get out of the Death Trap that was the Central Division.
We still have Rinne, and have a lot of young talent on the team, so I'm hoping they can push for a playoff appearance again this year. Plus, they picked up Seth Jones, who I couldn't be more excited about. The kid is huge and looks like he can make an immediate impact, especially since their defense really seemed to sufffer last year; poor Pekka was victimized by turnovers waaaaay too often.

When the Blackhawks set up a legacy remotely close to what we have, I'll listen to some upstart about it. Detroit, in it's rebuilding year, was 1 shot from sending them on an early summer vacation. Not to bad for a team that wasn't even supposed to make the play-offs.

yeah lets talk about the great red wing teams from 1966 to 1995, oh wait they were the Dead wings then.
in the playoffs chicago has the edge over detroit.
Postseason meetings
81, CHI 43–38 (.531)
Postseason series
16, CHI 9–7 (.563)
Chicago has also beaten Detroit for the cup twice. so doing it again will be fun. Sure you guys put together a good team from 1995 until 2008. but having 14 good years doesn't make you gods. Currently Chicago is God!! come push us off the mountain.

22 straight play off seasons, that's more then 14 bud. Chicago is only on 5 right now, following a 10 year streak where they only made it once. Sure, point out several decades ago to where the Wings were no good. You guys had your dead period a lot more recently.
Chicago is a good team, they earned their Cup last year, but watch the smack talk. They came dangerously close to losing it to a team that was "rebuilding", and that team is all the stronger this year now, and looking to take that play off run many more years.

Meh, that's dirt cheap when you live in Loaf's Nation...
Last time I went to the ACC for a game, (as my dad had won a set of free tickets at the company golf tourney), the price was $89 per seat - in the damn nose-bleeds section in the rafters... and that was about 7 years ago.
By now MLSE is probably charging those same seats at least $10 more per ticket.

Well, unless you want to pull out a second mortgage on your house, I'd steer clear if paying for an NHL game in Toronto...
$8/cup for a Molsons?! No wonder they're the richest team in the league!
When my mum and I went with that set of free tickets, all we got between us that night was;
