Maybe im just tired and overlooking something, But instant death can NOT be saved? if its double strength its just instantly gone? do i not get invul save or feel no pain? And say necrons had an instant death does the reanimation protocols not go in effect?

Page 16 holds the rule for instant death via weapons that have strength more then twice toughness and it's twin can be found on page 38, when talking about a weapon that gains this ability regardless of the level of damage it does. You will also need to check out the rules on page 35 for the feel no pain special rule to see what is different within this section when it talks about dealing with instant death. The rules for Necrons can be found in their own codex, on page 29, and they follow a whole completely different structure when it comes to all types of wounds. I recommend reading through these sections and to do so when you are a little more aware because there is some trickier parts, particularly the Necron codex. .

Instant Death is only applied after saves (not FnP) are taken, pages 16 and 38 (as Jinx mentions) state that it requires an unsaved wound.
So a Space Marine in Artificer Armour (T4, 2+ armour save), hit by a Krak missile (S8, AP3) gets to make his 2+ save, but if he fails it will be removed regardless of how many wounds he has remaining.

I think a better question is why do you think it shouldn't get a save?

Stuff like that happens when you are new to the game and the people you play with are bad at explaining things.
For a while I was explained that Instant Death only occurs with double strength AND low enough AP to ignore armour.

I lost that game but not by much and finding this out now doesnt change how i feel about the game, i understand im still going to learn things every game. I still enjoy it even tho i lost. It just makes me want to perfect my strategies and armies that much more to be better. But going thru the rule book and the army book looking for a single sentence or even a word that validates what you think may or may not be true is tough. But like i said, im learning and i like using the vast knowledge that is this forum to help me learn new things and to find where in the darn book things are lol.

Sadly it's not uncommon that someone is mistaken about this - a rule called Instant Death should surely be just that? I've heard players say you get no saves. I've even heard a few say you only need to hit and then skip straight to removing the models.
But once you actually read through your rulebook a few times you'll start seeing where people are making mistakes, either because they misread something or just trusted someone else to know. Game store employees are notorious for being mistaken and oldtimers like me trying to keep six game editions straight in our heads can make mistakes too.

the weapon's AP probably did more to cause this than the strength. A marine gets no save against an S10 AP1 hit, for example. The only thing an Instant death hit denies, on its own, is a Feel No Pain roll. Unless paired with other rules or stats, you may take saves, rare as it is to ever see it.

Yes I know that happens, I wanted to know if he was told some bull by TFG at his local gaming haunt or if he was mistaken due to the wording of the rules.

A little bit of both. More so by TFG and had a hard time finding exact clear wording. But i appreciate the help, now i know where and what the rules are and know for later games.

Trust me i want to play more, but hard to. Im a long haul trucker and cant get a 70 foot truck into most game store parking lots. And for past few years its been more collecting, (gives me something to do on the truck, painting/assembling/etc..) there are a few in a a few states but i cant always be there to play. And actually there is one about 90 miles south of you Elric Greywolf that ive been too but never been lucky to play at. Atomic Games in Golden Co, decent place and the guys there are great.
