How do you deal with a spartan full of an angry deathstar? Av 14 all round ! Melta doesn't work ! What the hell do I do? Plus it's pumping out 10 angry terminators when it reaches my lines.

shoot it with lascannons? bright/dark lances? assault cannons?

I do love pressing questions about rarely seen Forgeworld models...

Really depends who you are using - there's lots of special anti armour things out there besides melta.

Tank shock, lascannon, railguns, hull point it with meltas (lol), MC smash attacks, (dark) lances, kite it while you kill its mates, etc.

I collect:
Guard - 2k of mostly infantry
DA - 2k of deathwing, 2k of other bits (no vehicles)
Sisters - mostly converted/proxy because I'm waiting for therange to go plastic.
Tau - 2k with no riptides because I can.

How much does this thing cost? It sounds like you might have to just make his terminator charge as ineffective as possible because it doesn't sound like this thing is feasible to stop with many lists.

Also, ask Ork players about this, because they face this problem with LRs all the time.

Ymm isn't it also immune to lance? IIRC ceramite shielding also protects from lance.

65 pts more than a regular land raider (with the melta immune armor) for two extra lascannon shots and the ability to hold 25 models. Why people don't convert regular LRs into them? no idea, they are amazing for their cost.

You have to glance it to death if you want it dead. with 10 termies inside you need to slow/destory it fast.

Most lists are not going to be able to do that. It's easier to sacrifice a unit to the terminators and then deal with the terminators out of the tanks. I feel that 65 pts is too cheap for those upgrades. But I don't see much Forgeworld where I play, so it's not an issue for me.

they don't really fit in with DE or Tyranids . The fact that lances don't work against them really pissed me off!

You deal with it like you deal with any other overpriced death star: put something cheap in its path and win the objective game while half your opponent's army is wasted on killing cheap meatshields.

Because it's extra points for transport capacity you don't want to use. There isn't really anything that justifies spending the points on a 25-capacity death star compared to what you can already put in a basic LR, so you're spending 65 points to upgrade the guns on a vehicle that usually moves too fast to shoot them effectively, and then hundreds of points on making your death star even more overkill.

It does not. It only removes the extra D6 from melta, it has no effect at all on lance/ordnance/etc.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

good idea. I may use baron and a large beast pack and just do the best I can to ignore them.

As Peregrine said, it's not immune to lance

The LR is 320ish when it has ceramite plating, and if people are dropping 10 man terminator squads and a character inside, you are looking 850+ points in one package.

If you play tyranids and/or Dark Eldar and have trouble with this, I don't know what to tell you other then you are awful. 3 Ravagers and 3 blaster-born squads in venoms should cost around what the Spartan and friends costs....and will break it in 1 or 2 turns. Hell, a wych squad with haywire grenade should kill the spartan in 1 assault phase, and they are what, like 150 points + transport?

For Tyranids, either drop a zoanthrope brood on it and warp lance or screen with gants, eat the charge then counter charge the LR with a MC or 2 . Either tarpit the terminators with small gant broods or pound them with weight of fire via biovores and devourer gants or just plain old fleshborer gaunts in enough quantity. 850 points buys you a pod with 3 zoans, 2 tervigons with 10 gant broods and 3 biovores, shouldnt really have many issues.

I haven't actually played one. Looking at the rules they look powerful. Please in future refrain from telling me I'm "awful" with my army. Thank you.
