Hola Guys,

Haven't posted in a while, but I have been working on stuff. I've played eldar for a long time, but I decided to go with another army. I really like the turquoise and lighter color palette of Mymeara and Iybraesil so I decided to with Iybraesil. So new tank, new paint job. I've magnetized the turret so it will accept all of the weapon options (coolest and most widely used being depicted here) and the chin gun as well. I used a bunch of the new decals from the Hemlock and Wraithknight sets to finish it off. Not too much edge highlights because I did the vehicle with my airbrush (total novice at it). I might reconsider later on.

My camera is my phone, but the pics aren't horrible (at least til I buy a camera). Let me know what you think, Critiques totally welcome.

It looks cool mate, just noticed it looks a bit rough around the cockpit, other than that a really nice job!
(I'm assuming it might as well just be your camera, as the rest of the model looks great)

Looks pretty slick to me

I also have that problem where I want to use my airbrush to paint things but then I still feel like I'm supposed to be edge highlighting and washing... learning curve and all that, I guess.

I dont see why airbrushing would omit edge highlighting and washing..? You can still do both

The colour is so rich! Craft world rune looks beautiful too. Would you consider breaking up the colour a bit more? With that much tone, I would paint the entire underside black. Perhaps the weapons black. That way you wouldn't have to change your great job on the hull.

Toss us a pic of a guardian when you get a chance.

@Tommy, I know you can do both, and I guess you have to, it just seems like when I seen an obviously airbrushed model it looks "different" as if those things were not present or done in the same way. Just my airbrushing ineptitude showing through is all

Love the colors!

Smooth airbrushing

You can't really tell it from the first four pics I've posted, but the underside of the tank is VGC Sombre Grey, which is a shade of grey about halfway between a neutral grey and black. The underside is IMO in need of work (quick shading and highlighting) to bring stuff out. But since no one really turns over the turtle, I'd like to put some time in on the second transport (there's going to be about 4 in total). It's going to be the same blue base going from light to dark, but on different areas of the tank. I'm also going to add in stripes in white to break up the color. My first three tanks I've already built the wave spines onto the hull which makes for difficult masking. Here's a pic of the back of the Serpent where you can see the grey more, the entire bottom hull is that color. What I was thinking of doing was to do OSL under the front grill portion and engines of the tank to represent the glow and anti grav of the functional vehicle.

I'd say the only thing I'm reserved about, because I edge highlight all of my non airbrushed work, is that getting the highlight color itself is difficult because the airbrushed basecoat gradiates into different colors - darker and lighter. It's something I'm still wanting to do, but I may hold off until I have 3-4 tanks completed to this level then have a highlight day or something.

I understand your predicament, but I would guess it's work the time to try and do the edge highlighting anyway. I'm personally not particularly fond of models that are obviously only airbrushed, I really appreciate the effort of good brushwork showing!

I agree, there needs to be some finer highlight shading work done. The color is gorgeous, but it looks a little flat.

Think of your airbrush (man do I want one) like another brush, not as the be-all end-all of your toolkit.

So I spent a couple of nights edge highlighting the Wave Serpent. I think it came out pretty good, although I may have to take more pictures during the day when the lighting is better...maybe. I also loaded into the gallery without the auto adjust on. Last weeks pictures were more blue than the tank actually is. It's got some turquoise in it. Anyways let me know what you think.
