How come SG lost their subforum to x-wing? Out of curiosity I mean?

I don't think they lost it "to" x-wing but rather people were asking for an x-wing one (and it's the 3rd most popular game according to ICV2 in the US) whereas no one was apparently using the Spartan one. It's not like dakka has phsyical slot parking spaces for each game on the server machine that need to be reserved. I guess Lego and Yak decided that there is no sense in having a separate discussion forum for a game if no one has anything to say about it apparently for a whole month in the whole dakkadakka world...

Eh that's fair enough. To be honest they seemed to have gotten theirs from the old Heavy Gear subforum anyway.

Heavy Gear had a subforum?? I been a member for a while (longer than my profile says) but I don't recall a HG specific forum. That said... the bone headed decisions by DP9 over the past twenty years have made me stop supporting them/paying attention for years at a time.

Because no one was posting in it... the bottom of the page had threads from 2012 still to give you an idea...

X-wing was substituted as although it seems only a small group post about it here, there is at least a bit more activity. SG games have all been transferred in here, nothing was lost though!

It got taken down about last year not long after i joined (if i wasnt just imagining it, you've got me second guessing myself now :S). Meh, who knows before long x-wing will likely give way to another flavor o the year.

I told them, they should just have a "new hotness" forum that they rotate the name on every time a new "cool" game comes out. I didn't think they actually did it...

Like watching other people play video games (badly) while blathering about nothing in particular? Check out my Youtube channel: joemamaUSA!

"New Hotness" is pretty much synonymous with Spartan Games, though. Pity they lost their forums even if it as understandable.

Out of curiosity, did Firestorm suffer from alot of rules edition churn? I seem to recall periodic new edition news from Spartan games but I might be mixing up the various different ship lines.

Eh they DID seem to be getting things a little more focused lately. They were no more "new hotness" than GW are. The only difference is rather than monthly releases for one army for one system every month, they announced a month in advance a little bit of everything in their lines (last month or two even US was getting some love).

You mean more so that getting their game crammed in to fitting the DW rules for no reason? Think that was about the limit of it, hell even if they don't plan to do another edition any time soon, all it'd take is a campaign book with some FAQing and minor rules changes to fix it like they do with DW.

A lot of the old names/faces I remember from the Spartan forums are gone now since the edition change/cramming of DW rules. Spartan is also in the early stages of beta testing a new rules edition for Firestorm.
