Just curious if anyone out there has played with both Grex and Iwata brushes on minis. I'm a pretty avid minis airbrusher, and have quite a collection of Iwata brushes, but I've recently been having more and more issues with them, probably due to age - I've had them for quite some time.

A lot of locals have picked up Grex kits, since one of the LGS now stocks them, and they all seem to love them, but they're also mostly their first airbrushes. I'm just curious of anyone out there uses both, or has switched from one to the other, and has any insight. I don't think I'd like the pistol grip setup, but I've heard they're coming out with "standard" trigger airbrushes soon.

I plan on borrowing someones kit for a bit to try it out, but thought I'd see if anyone else had any opinions as well.

I'm an Iwata guy. I currently own 4 Iwata airbrushes. I switch to a Grex TG3 for a while and really like it for the most part. One thing I really liked about it was the magnetic crown tip. Such a great idea that makes the constant removing and replacing of it so much faster. It sprayed well. The reason I got it is because I thought that they pistol grip would be amazing. As it turned out, I didn't like the pistol grip as much as the traditional airbrush pencil grip. I think if I hadn't been using a traditional airbrush for so many years it would have been fine. The nail in the coffin for it was the fact that I got an Iwata Cutom Micron B from a friend. You really can't get a better airbrush for painting minis.

I have two Grex and one Iwata. My Iwata is not top of the line; it's a revolution CR. My Grex's are the small, single action XA and the trigger style TG3. The Grex nice, precision made instruments in the same class as the Iwatas and more nicely finished than my Badgers. I don't think you can go wrong with either brand really.

BTW, Grex has plenty of normal or traditional style airbrushes. The Genesis XG and XN are typical gravity feed double actions that predate the XT and TG trigger brushes.
