This article makes me sad

A 61-year-old man was shot to death by

police while his wife was handcuffed in another room during a drug

raid on the wrong house.

Police admitted their mistake, saying faulty information from a drug informant contributed to the death of John Adams Wednesday night. They intended to raid the home next door.

Isn't that like a thing you'd idk... double check before you went out?

So what the police said they're sorry but nobody's losing their jobs over misconduct?

The old man fired first. But he had the legal rite to do so, they had no warrant to raid his property, even if they identified themselves as officers.

I hate to say this but it happened in Lebanon Tennessee. If you live anywhere named Lebanon you should realize historically you have a good chance of being shot to death.

I'm sure it happens this much every year but it seems like lately there has been alot of wrong house stories lately popping up. My GPS generally works pretty good, and it seems like Big Brother knows where i am at every moment of the day, so why cant the cops get it right?

Google maps is a fantastic tool for seeing what house is which .

Yes, but the google machine can be used to corroborate what you are looking at

Although they wrongfully broke in, and probably gave the old guy the right to fire, they probably had the right to shoot the kill to defend themselves anyway. Sounds like the Zimmerman case. A situation arises where both parties can use lethal force even though one provoked it. That's why nothing will happen, well that and they're the police.

If you go on cracked a guy wrote a letter of apology to the police who accidently raided hs house.he was sorry the floor was so dirty and that he didn't give them drinks.Its hilarious.

Yes. Because his case was the go-to overused case before it was even finished.

I'd like to see these cops charged. But as has been mentioned that probably won't happen. I know it wouldn't in my city, at best they'll be sued, but that doesn't hurt the cops. Just the city.

I'm guessing they won't be charged but there's a civil suit waiting in the wings. This has happened before (I know its been posted on Dakka). Has a suit ever been brought against the officers involved or the department?

Which one? There have been skads. I know the two gals shot up by LAPD who thought they were a big black ex cop and not two little ladies settled for an 18 wheeler full of money.
