I remember asking this many years ago when Forgeworld was just getting up and running. Now, with all the GW price hikes over the past few years, what 40K model has the highest monetary cost to points cost? If the ratios can all be kept to the same currency, that would make things easier. I'll start us off using the ever-strong American dollar, with the models in my own Kroot army:

Kroot Hound ($6.19 per model / 5 points per model) - 1.24 cost ratio
Kroot Baggage Great Knarloc ($57.35 per model / 35 points per model) - 1.64 cost ratio

Does anything come close to costing $2 per point?

This thread was done a little while ago. I think it was the ork kannons.

Did that last thread go over what model/ models were the best value?

I would think the grey knights kits would come close to being the best ratio. especially if you kitted them out with all of the upgrades.

Yeah probably paladins.

Note to the reader: my username is not arrogance. No, my name is taken from the most excellent of commanders: Lord Castellan Creed, of the Imperial Guar- I mean Astra Militarum - who has a special rule known only as "Tactical Genius"... Although nowhere near as awesome as before, it now allows some cool stuff for the Guar- Astra Militarum - player. FEAR ME AND MY TWO WARLORD TRAITS.

Bummer, I missed it. I only thought about it again when a player in my store complained about his 240-point Wraithknight costing $120, as I stared at my army that doesn't even come close to being $.50 per point.

sanguinary guard actually beat out palaldins. I'm using CAD prices btw.

$60 for 5x paladins is $12 per paladin = 12/55pts = $0.21 per point

$39.50 for 5x sanguinary guard is $7.9 per guard = 7.9/40 = $0.20 per point

Win out by 1 cent per point

So if you actually want an extremely cheap army grab dante, 4-5 boxes of sanguinary guard and 2 sanguinary priests and you got yourself a 1500 pt army for around $250 CAD.

That's actually a pretty cool idea for a cheap, themed army. Rather than terminators, I may actually consider this as an army that I can spend a lot of time on each model.

Well the Ork kannons only come to 1.5 cost ratio. So it looks like the great knarloc takes the win for least cost efficient.

The Dante wing is pretty cheap and fun, if not the most competitive. Especially since BA are less popular, you can pick up NOS boxes for less than $25. So a few boxes with Dante, the Sanguinor and priests then you're ready to rock in sweet, sweet gold. Or a different color, I'm just lazy and dry brush mine gold.

Model is an upgrade to a unit but can be represented as it's own model and base.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

I would think the most efficient is probably in the realm of the Necron Warriors box. For $36.25 you get 201 points worth - 12 warriors and 3 scarabs. That's $0.18 per point.

ork kannons are the worst, followed by vostroyan guard, while DV deathwing terminators bought on ebay are way ahead of everyone else in first.

Dark Eldar Khymerae are as the most expensive price wise I have come across so far. Seeing how each is ten dollars and is barley pushing double digits in points.

DKoK infantry squad with a mortar HWT: $1.42 per point.

Surprisingly the Manta is pretty cost-effective at $1500 for a 2000 point unit, or just $0.75 per point, and you also get a bunch of plastic kits with it.

I meant fully kitted out paladins
Apothecary, banner, psybolt, master-crafted etc.
All single models...
180pts, for £5.60GBP...
5.60/180 = £0.03 per point

Fully kitted sanguinary guard (masks, banner, infernus and fists)...
355pts for £20.50GBP...
20.50/355 = £0.06 per point....
So Paladins are twice as cheap per point if you run apothecary/banner/M-c CCW/psybolt solodins

How about Tyranid rippers with spinefists? Model is only available in the genestealer box, and there are only 2 per box. At Canadian prices, buying three boxes of genestealers to get the 'ideal' 6 rippers per base, you are spending $126.

Ratio is about 8.4 dollars per point... you need three bases to get a valid unit. You could spend $378 plus tax to build a 45 point unit that dies to a light breeze. Of course, you would have quite a few genestealers left over...
