what chaos factions would you like to see in the game?

To start with, it'll probably all undivided Legions, since the artwork seems to show a Word Bearer. So bearing that in mind, Word Bearers, Black Legion, Iron Warriors and Night Lords would be fun.

Though IIRC, the devs said that more subfactions could be added to a faction later on. So it'd also be nice to see all of the mono-god Legions added in later.

they said that they want 5 subfactions for all factions at release

Alpha Legion
Emperors Children
and the last i dont care^^ maybe Death Guard

For me has to be
Emperors Children
Alpha Legion
Night Lords
and you have to have thousand sons because warp firing bolters are awesome.

One for each god and then one for undivided personally. Probably Word Bearers that can summon daemons but not as specialized as the god specifics?

Thousand Sons would be the ones that would make me want to play CSM.

Failing that, Emperor's Children.

I'll go for the classics. One for each Chaos God:
Death Guard, Emperor's Children, Thousand Sons, World Eaters

If there's room for one more, add Black Legion for Chaos Undivided.

I would like to see Emperor's Children, World Eaters, Iron Warriors, Night Lords, and Death Guard just because these guys are really never seen in any other games.

I feel like there's not a lot of fiction/narrative behind post heresy Emperor's Children and it would be a nice to learn more about these guys or experience who they are.

It would also be a nice change of pace not to see the stereotypical Chaos Marines of the black legion.


Every one of these Warbands has something unique to offer in terms of play style. And i like that there are factions with Mono-gods. I don't see why all the warbands have to be undivided, i mean wouldn't that make everyone kinda similar?

It pains me to say this but Night Lords do not have the numbers to be properly represented.

I'm pretty sure they do, and I'm saying this because in the epilogue of Void Stalker there were over 100 companies still left. I mean even so they easily have over 1000 legionnaires left alive to rival a loyalist chapter and also a lot of them fought on Terra which makes they very experienced.

My personal opinion on the Night Lords aside - a possibly small size (which is also "just" novel fluff) shouldn't really matter much. This is a video game, it is to be expected that such details will take a backseat, especially given that any and all of the featured factions' members will likely die by the droves daily, including Elites and HQ.

I'm certain they still have at least a hundred members, and in a game that allows 1.000 players per battle, divided into 4 factions, with Chaos itself divided into 4 sub-factions, how likely is it that you'd even get above that number? Let alone notice it on the battlefield.

I'd love to see all of the patron God legions in addition to the word bearers and the black legion...so 6 legions would be my ideal

Thousand Sons, for ranged psychic ability
Death Guard, for tanking ranged guys with funky grenades
World Eaters, for berserkers. Who doesn't want to just try and one shot enough enemies before you go down
Night Lords, for stealth w/ hit and run abilities

My 4 are this:

Night Lords: We almost never see them, but they fulfill a useful niche Chaos is superb at - Infiltration and Terror - something I'd be especially attracted to if I played Chaos in EC. They also don't rely on demons - making any expansion with demon's in it have the same balancing act as the IoM.

(The SM don't usually rely on either the SoB or IG unless they're in a huge conflict - demons are almost immediately on site with all 4 of the main legions and the Black Legion)

Word Bearer's - Any expansion that delves into the realm of including traitor guard pretty much needs these guys. They also don't usually arrive on scene with a horde of demons either.

I voted Red Corsairs because they're the wild card of the legions. They have a bit of everything. You can be a decadent pirate, an immortal warrior that defies death, a keeper of arcane knowledge to further your power, or just a crazed berzerker on a brass leash. We really should give the black legion a break for being thrashed all the time. All the Red Corsairs ever do in the lore is win. If they're going to be immortalized any further in GW's lore, let the community earn it. They also don't come with the baggage of a demon horde.

Thousand sons. Ok, breaking the tempo here with the inclusion of walking demonic force, but still, if SW's are confirmed, there's no better rivalry that needs to be addressed between these two forces.

TL: DR:

Night Lords - Stealth and Terror
Word Bearer's - Combos well with future inclusion of Renegade IG.
Red Corsairs - Jack of all trades. Has swelling numbers and a stellar track record that needs a bit of real world thrashing and triumphs.
Thousand Sons - Fulfills rivalry between TS and SW. Most people would like to see it play out. Pyskers, and carries the biggest guns (other than the IW's - which are unnecessary since CSM are not meant to be a siege force on their own and could be easily added later.), also the number 1 chaos force to have the addition of a demonic force later.

Interesting results.

Thousand Sons (makes sense, good call)
Death Guards (good call, im pleased)
Night Lords (feth)

World Eaters pull up shortly afterwards

Alpha, Word Bearers, and Black Legion are all neck and neck

and no one likes Red Corsairs
