The basic idea here is that I'm going to start a series of short stories that I will update on a regular basis(depending on the reception and support I get) but I need you, the dakka community to help me start! It's going to be community driven in that I will take feed back and tailor the story (or not) to your suggestions. I will have a poll on what you would like to see and after say a week of voting I will write the next section based on popular demand. The first question and the most pivotal is: Who should the main character be?

*EDIT* the question is what race you would like to see the story revolve around so basically, who should the protagonist fight? I'm keeping the hero himself a secret

*EDIT* Poll closed (for now) the enemy is skaven and the protagonist is an empire captain (but I guarantee all teams will see the light of day...eventually) I will have the first segment up late tonight... STAY TUNED!

(Other) I suggest you pick the race, rank and origins based on the community that'll will drive said story.
I suggest you just roam the forum for inspiration and see what comes to mind.
Altho truth be told this is still the internet so such an approach is likely to end with someone prone to infighting so i guess an orc, goblin or a skaven.

No Skaven? I would think they'd be the most fun to write about. If not, then when Wood Elves conquer the world by turning every forest in the world into a massive forest spirit, cause Wood Elves need a win. Although if you plan on advancing the story line at all, I personally think its about time Nagash got off his throne and threatened the entire world again, which would also be a starting point for introducing other races as they fight off the living dead Every story needs more zombies!

Sorry, I knew I was forgetting something and shaven are a rather large demographic these days lol. I kind of want to write about chaos though so no matter what happens ill probably work it in there.

Actually on second thought I'm saving the voting for later in the series, I have decided the hero will be an empire captain and the enemies will be skaven. Stay tuned the first segment will be posted tonight!

If you ask me I will say either a Beastman shaman or some sort of nefarious Elf. Skaven sould be avoided like the plauge, same goes for the knigth in shining armour

Just to say I'd be up to help this in any way that I can. I really want to get into writing but I can't exactly write warhammer stories for school. Just give me a PM if you need idea's or someone to proof read a chapter

LOL my bad, auto correct on an iPad corrects skaven to shaven, I thought I had fixed it.

And thanks, will do in the future but for the first part I want to get it posted soon. I have an idea for the origin story of what I think will be an interesting character.

I'd love to read some stories from the Destruction perspective. Now, I know you aren't publishing a book or anything, but I think maybe a story/narrative about a Marauder, Necromancer, or Ork Boss or something.

Lets face it folks, the human perspective will make for a more compelling story due to having a protagonist we can relate with.

I vote for a Brettonian squire who is stuck with a drunken fool of a questing knight he has to look after.

A young Tilean mercenary with an eye for the ladies and a hot temper.

Or Warhammer Don Quixote instead. That promises to be fun.

Ha, they could be he Ciaphas Cain and Jurgan of Warhammer fantasy!

The story itself belongs in dakka fiction but the discussion about what characters it should involve belong in dakka general discussions (whfb)

On a separate note, I've decided to blend a few ideas together, it's going to be about a traveling sellsword and former empire soldier named Sebastian Mourn. It will be a serial almost in the style of the original show "have gun, will travel" where the hero will ride into a new town each time to save the day. This format will allow for more characters and more parts of the whfb universe to be brought in and it will be easier to follow for new readers.

Story is going to be fairly lengthy, I'm halfway done (for real this time) and I should have it finished within the week. Serial updates will likely be bi-weekly in the future, or perhaps monthly.

Well, as for items coming back? I met Gary Morley at Salute this year... Nagash has been remade! He showed me a picture of his Sculpt ... Awesome! He calls it Nagaz, So to all those Gary Morley Trolls out there... Get ready to be Socked.

Oh yeah, got distracted while I was away and forgot this story. I may actually finish it soon but rather than strictly being a whfb story it may just be heavily influenced by whfb.
