I've been wondering if the chaos legions know that the Emperor is on the Golden Throne and in not alive/not dead state.
Would they openly call him "corpse-lord?" If not learning at the time the newer traitor chapters might have leaked the info.

The way of Chaos is to deceive the unwary, to misguide the weak-minded, and to bend the faithful. Not words coming from a follower of Chaos should be trusted, especially the Alpha Legions. So we may never know if the followers of Chaos, warp Daemons, or the Chaos Gods know anything about the truth of The Emperor.

Yeah. They know he's a vegetable and the Imperium is slowly receding.

Sad thing is. Even as a avid CSM player I don't think we will get to deliver the death blow to our hated foe.

I've sold so many armies. :(

Chaos Marines call him the Corpse Emperor and the False Emperor, and often say he's just a corpse.

Chaos Daemons still sometimes refer to him as the anathema, though, kinda indicating he's still threatening daemons here and there.

Maybe varies by writer.

I wonder if Chaos marines are aware of the Imperial Truth. Likely the Word Bearers would be since they were told to stop their religious by none other than the Emperor. Seems like this could be spread to the legions or even used to convert chapters by using Dark Apostles. Finding out that their entire faith system is based on a lie would convince many to turn to the "real gods."

They're aware of the Imperial Truth to the extent that they know it's a huge lie

Of course they know the Emperor is a slowly decaying vegetable.

At it's core it's like this: The Emperor rejection of the Imperial Truth is what caused it to become true

More specifically: the Lectitio Divinatus was written by the primarch Lorgar. The Emperor censured Lorgar and his legion (in a cruel and humiliating way) for spreading it. And so, while the Emperor's actions were a major reason why the embittered Lorgar sought out new gods (and the Word Bearers were the first to really turn to Chaos), Lorgar's writings eventually became the root of an underground cult (that resisted the traitors and ultimately lead to things like the succesful flight of the Eisenstein), which much later became the dominant belief of the reforming Imperium. And since it's hinted at that the Emperor is battling Chaos and sometimes actively aiding the Imperium through the Living Saints (YMMV), Lorgar might have been right all along.

"The Crozius is the Imperium in a nutshell: pitiless authority, unquestioning zeal, and half understood technology encased within the form of a beatin' stick."

The Imperial Truth denied the existence of gods/daemons at all. Hence it's a huge lie.

I guess it would depend on which chapter were talking about.

If it was one of the original traitor legions, then yeah im pretty sure they have an idea what the carrion god has been subjected to.
