Well after many thoughts I think a well built Greenwing army(not spamming lrcs or razorbacks) could be competive. My thoughts were to run 40 marines fully loaded with x2 Libby's and x2 techmarines all with PFG's to give them all a 4++. Running x3 dev squads still leaves room for more DAKKA and still leaving about 300 points or so in a 1850 army. The only question that comes to mind is- dakka banner or FNP banner- or even running one of those and still getting the crusaider banner for some extra run movement. Any thoughts on this or would that be utterly stupid?

Need Aegis line and Azrael in a Crusader, maybe some speeders or fliers, yes this list works.

Say for an 1850 list the core of 40 marines/devs/hqs all decked out would cost 1675 for the dakka banner or 1695 for FNP banner which banner? 45 marines with 3+/4+ and a fnp would be hard to budge but so would 128 bolter shots.

Your core list looks quite good. The banner of devastation is a must have here as is an Aegis for cover and anti-air. I'd complement the army with some fast moving units like RW.

Ravenwing sounds fun, between prescience and devs I Should have AA covered and if not would would you think of razorbacks to fill the points(3) ...I'd think as many las cannons as possible would be nice but so would some ravenwing(too expensive) If have points for 2 dakka dreads or even possibly thinking of allies?

Well, a footslogging army with just 1 or 2 Razorbacks would not really work since the enemy's anti-tank will take down the Backs easily. If you play RW Bikers, the enemy's anti-tank will be rather useless. I'd opt for RW Bikers since they can complement your army very well.

I have 245 points not using azreal I could clea a few changing plasmas to meltas or even a couple of the LC'S to PCs but ill just work it out and post a link in the AM
RW bikers or an ally detachment? For the ravenwing I'd have to change the libbys to azreal(that way they score) only leaving me 150 points. I could try and ally SM for a garuenteed gate...what if I simply removed a dev squad and added 9 RWBK in the bunch.

Good question. DA cannot ally with DA. Azrael would be a bit overpriced in your list. If you use an ally detachment, you'll pay a tax for including an HQ.

I would suggest not taking too many PFG as it will also give the 4++ to enemies.
Not many things seem to want to be in melee in 40k at the moment, but I know if I saw a DA with a whole lot of guns and 4 PFGs I would most likely want to get some things into melee.
Unless I was running Tau.
I'm a DA player actually, just a thought. It makes the Aegis a wiser option, and if you drop 2 that's 60 pts you free up, 90 if you drop 3, I would drop 2-3 of them personally.

That's what I was assuming when you said add RW. I think RW elements don't go well with the static play style you're going for. Unless, of course, you use Black Knights and their Rad Grenades.

Id keep 3 for 30 marines that way they all have the 4++ and can just walk up the middle happily ever after.

I was thinking of RWBK, but they are expesnive adding razorbacks to 3 squads and the CMD squad would let me drop the aegis, between the razors and 2 dev squads w/ presence I should be able to take out air pretty well, but im just not sure 40 marines 2 dakka dreads and a vindicator is enough shooting to counter heavy assault list and enough firepower to withstand tau which seems to be everywhere now days what would you say if I fit in a large unit of DWK?

I like using the 65 point Whirlwinds, in my 1850 i take two. Hide them right on the deployment line with some nice LOS blocking terrain. I usually run two LR's though, one is a caddy for the banner and the other is with las and DW upgrade with 5 termies inside. Ive had good success so far. The libby and other marines hide behind the LR's and move up the field.

I'm pretty sure it's cheaper to add more Marines and let them die than to stack up on PFGs.
I've been toying with experimenting with this list. 60 Marines, dakka banner in a crusader, and one pfg for the crusader. Maybe another Raider (god pattern I think, you've got all your anti infantry needs covered) with some terminators inside to kill anything scary that gets close.
60 Marines with the banner out shoots a tau pulse bomb, and is more durable too.

Is the dakka banner worthwhile to use with tac squads as they wouldn't be able to move and shoot? I understand the benefit for RW bikescas they all have Relentless...

Executing Exarch

The secret to a dakka banner in a greenwing list is to fortress up and force the enemy to be within 24". There are a few ways to do this with varying degrees of success; drop pod (drop the banner turn 2+ so you can pop tanks/MC/TEQ/etc. with plasma/melta and the banner will survive), put an aegis line at the middle of the table and castle there, or bring so much 48"+ firepower that they need to come end it (DA can kind of do this with cheap CML skimmers, whirlwinds or devs, and dakka dreads).
I have been toying with the drop pod list but I have to proxy most of it which is sad.
