Subject: Another 40k to infinity conversion

Hey dakka! New guy here : )
Ive been working on creating some armylists based on 40k using the infinity rules and would love to get some feedback from you guys. Ive gone for a safe and grounded approach so I've not added any new rules or weapons (or very minimal) and basically just used existing weapons and rules to 'counts as' their closest 40k equivalent eg. A bolter in 40k is counted as a combi rifle in infinity (your basic ranged weapon). I feel this way is easier to maintain balance within the system.
That said there are some Units, weapons and vehicles which dont translate well to infinity and were left out. So you wont be seeing any psykers, meltagun loadouts or tanks etc. So far ive done a basic space marine and imperial guard list and working on others. At the end of each list is a list of the 40k to infinity conversions.
Any comments and criticisms are welcome. Especially regarding the points costs. Do you think the lists are balanced against each other? Against other infinity army lists? Any recommendations?

All I'm going to point out is Orks, no Panzer they want Rockets, lots of Rockets. And, drop the Rifle from the Tankbustaz.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor. |

Hey noir
Do you think they should get light or heavy rockets. Or missiles?

If you wanted to go for realism your stats across the board are probably a bit high. An infinity basic trained soldier with a gun is BS10 which should be where your normal IG guy lands. that would put basic orks about BS 7-8. To compensate for it cost wise they could have V:Courage and NWI standard.

Cheers man, I was thinking of doing something like this for Orks as well, but you've saved me the trouble.
As for C&C, I'll be honest - looking at the basic boy, I see nothing that screams "WAAAGH" at me. Nothing that distinguishes him from anything else in the game, he's more a basic Infinity trooper than a mean green Ork.
Perhaps a more 40k-esk way to represent them would be to make them not only impetuous, but to add a few other rules. Perhaps add Natural Born warrior and/or berserk, which helps represent their innate but untrained competence in combat. Orks can be put down, but will they stay down? Something like SPAWN EMBRYO to represent the fact that a wounded Ork will very often just get up a few hours or days later and get back to fightin if they are not exterminated utterly. V: Courage, if I'm remembering it right, to negate guts rolls, seems fitting for boyz WAAAAGHIN into enemy lines. Finally, if you wanted to really represent them, theres that rule whose name I have forgotten that allows models to take a PH check to ignore a wound that takes them down to zero.
To balance out this plethora of superpowers, yet keep them cheap, they have virtually no shooting ability (both terrible BS and pistol- CCW as standard, though due to the size of that weapon, maybe it needs to be something else), and are irregular - so tactically, all you can do with them is wait... wait... wait... and then when your ready, RELEASE THE TIDE
I doubt that what I've posted above would be balanced as is, but rather, I'm hoping to show that you can represent Orks as... well, Orks, using just the rules that currently exist. Theres also probably plenty of rules I haven't even learned about yet that could be put to good use here.
If the Ork army has a few standard units (Kommandoes, Mekboyz with various kit) that are below average, and then this unique ability to deploy a tidal wave of green, it helps distinguish them as a force and could make them very interesting to play.
Edit; Just also want to point out, its only really the basic boy that really needs work IMO. With other models, you've done a good job giving them interesting and suitable abilities (Booty on Lootas, Explode on Burnaz, etc)

I would go some where along the lines HRL for Tankbustaz, Deffdred and Kans, LRL for the rest.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Keep it up : )
@ pittedpanda: thanks for the kind words man.
Looking forward to seeing how yours develops!
@ bluedagger: yeah im thinking of dropping the basic guard stats to:
CC:12 BS:10 PH:10 WIP:12 ARM:1 BTS:0 W:1
And then adjusting it based on their regiment. Eg. Cadian +1BS, Catachans +1 PH -1ARM and jungle terrain, Death Korps +3 BTS and v: courage, etc.
Ill need to adjust the veteran stats accordingly as well.
@Dakkamite. Glad to help . Yeh when i first made the ork list i gave then all v: dogged and berserk but thought it was too much :p. Ive given them all dogged again to help them get into CC and to represent their naturl resilience but Ive dropped all the BS to 8 and most armour values by 1 because ork armour is paper anyway to balance it back out.
Seed embryo sounds like an interesting idea. Ill think about it but i dont want to pile on too many rules!
@ Noir. Fixed up the profiles and changed the panzerfausts on the nobz/meganobs to flammenspeers to represent kombi-rokkits

Will post an updated version soon! Thanks for the feedback!
What do you guys think about the space marine list?

So question:
I totally understand the want to use the weapon names from Infinity rules for simplicity. I was deciding between that option and converting over the 40k weapons myself.
Doesn't saying "My Space Marine fires his Combi-rifle and his traitorous brother Space Marine with the Viral Sniper" sound a bit weird to you? I mean, doesn't it break the theme? Or would you just call it a bolter for narrative sake but use the Combi Rifle profile?

I think you would be fine with calling the weapon they use a Bolter in a narrative sense, but using the Combi-rifle stat profile. I do not think it would be a problem if your opponent agrees with you on it, which should be the case.
