Subject: When was the most recent "finecast" model released by GW?

It looks like the recent Lizardman models do not include any of the infamous "fine" cast resin sub-par product GW has been releasing. I don't think the Eldar did either. Can anyone remember the last "fine" cast model released? What was it, and when was it released?
Id' heard (here, thank you very much dakkites!) that GW is no longer producing "fine"cast. Has this rumor been substantiated? Does GW even release that sort of information, or do they just do stuff that their fans find out about later? It would be most excellent if they banished that crap forever!

Re Lizardmen, Tetto'eko is Finecast. But I don't play WHFB, so for all I know that could have been released before the new book.
There were also the four new Captains in the Apocalypse release. However, it looks like the upcoming SM release (three new plastic characters, no Finecast mentioned in the rumours) may buck the trend.

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics. |

Was there not a rumour a while back that GW was going to try and reduce the number of new finecast models released and slowly switch to plastic.

Thanks guys, I guess I mis-remembered the Eldar releases - I'd thought there was no finecast. I'm pretty sure the new Lizardman stuff doesn't include any finecast.
I'd also heard GW might be phasing out FC, but I think it's hard to get these rumors substantiated unfortunately!

Just checked, the Tetto'Eko model was indeed a new one made for that release.

the new Saurus special character on foot is Finecast, as well...
so, that's two for the Lizzies...
each release has had a couple of new Finecast characters, but it looks like the Space Marine release could be all plastic, with no Finecast dudes in sight...
cheers

Yeah, it's been a long running rumor that seems like it's panning out pretty nicely. I hope it continues - not because I have a particular loathing for Finecast (my luck has been very good) but because I just love plastic that much.

LM Gor rok is finecast as well.
Every release has at least 2 finecast models. Eldar had spiritseer and Illric at least, not couting the other elites in their army.

It makes sense, Marine characters will be the quickest to make back the increased cost of the plastic tooling. So is a better candidate for plastic than Lizardman characters (who sell less; especially if marines are still outselling all of Fantasy).

Most SM characters are already in Finecast and so there really isn't a need to make more.

GW getting rid of finecast slowly is one of their better decisions. What a debacle that was.

They're not getting rid of finecast because of it's performance or public reception - I'm sure they couldn't care less about the public reception since it appears to still sell. Finecast was always a stop gap solution for the more expensive metal while they transitioned to mostly plastic. Finecast will stick around, they have said as much, for things like special characters which don't sell enough to ever warrant going plastic, unless part of a combined kit like the Swarmlord or Empire Emperor on Griffon.
