I'd be good either way. There was some cool stuff that was done as concept art we haven't gotten to see figures of yet!

Ohhhh.

Given that it's CMoN, a KS wouldn't surprise me, but I think they want it to be sustained through retail growth and support like Dark Age.

I can certainly ask....

Ah. I can't speak to Europe, unfortunately. It's doing fairly well in Cincinnati, and I know there's a really large group playing it in the New England area.

Facebook group is pretty active as well.

Someone in the CMON forum said there were not any plans to do another KS for WoK.

Honestly if they did I think it would be bad for the game and development in gaming stores.

Having our first tournament for it locally this weekend. Our local group has about 30 players In it so far on facebook. I expect it'll do decently locally. We'll see though.

I didn't get the chance to go due to a family thing that came up but I heard it went well. We had 6 people for it. Nasier apparently crushed it. Granted most of the players don't have access to their 3rd infantry choices or their rank 2 leaders yet but from what I heard we had a solid spread of all the factions with a double up on Hadross (?).

We are currently setting up a gaming day where we can kinda round robin it to get in 3+ games in an afternoon. We've got a good group of guys interested and once I get some more games in I'm going to be trying to set up demos in my area of the twin cities so we'll see

Sweet. I have been inserting the tendrils of WoK into some local brains here in NoVA, but haven't had time to roll anything serious. I am really regretting not get everything in the KS though... would I have had the Rank 2 leaders etc now if I had? Or is everyone required to wait out the summer for the full release?

Nope, you'd have had the entire line, including the 3rd infantry units and the Rank 2 leaders if you'd purchased them in the KS. I bought literally the entire line and am in the process of building my Teknes now. I've got my Nasier and Goritsi built and will be building the Shael-han here in a week or so. Then on to painting. I'm still looking to sell off the entire hadross line and have been selling some of my extras to locals to encourage growth of the game

Overall really excited that we seem to have a decent start on people being into it. Hopefully it takes off here.

Ahh damnit. Oh well, I am just now getting the bases for ~ 3/4 of my Nasier, Shael Han and Goritsi done, and hopefully will get to start airbrushing on some base coats this weekend. So I probably don't need too many more shiny things just yet. I might get my Teknes and Hadross done by the time I can buy more. Strange there is a delay in getting out the left over bits though, given that they were produced for the KS.

Might be a production issue. Not able to get enough available for their retail numbers. Plus it might also have to do with them wanting to have stuff releasing for the game for a bit.

Kickstarter or no, that is the question?

I like it. Always been sore I didn't get Goristi. Heck, I was sore I had to unload most of my models as it stands.

If CMON wants to do another 200 figures for 200, I think I'm game, especially after seeing the quality of the last batch.

Even my human sized stuff came out really nice, nevermind the bigger models.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

yeah, I went all in on the first one and I'd gladly do it again. Gimme factions for the 3 named kingdoms on the map that we haven't heard anything about yet, and a few new toys for the first 5, and I will throw money at you.

Yea, the next one I am all in on, especially if they offer deals on models from the first one as well. I would very happily round off all my factions for 40% off MSRP (as opposed to 25% MM seems to offer) as well as buying all the new things twice over.

Don't think there will be a 2nd KS for WoK.

Pretty sure they'll be releasing stuff similarly to the release methodology for Dark Age.

Which I'm good with. Only one store locally is stocking it and if it went KS again we'd have zero chance at getting into any other stores. As it is if we push it locally we might see some stores actually pick it up since it's not a ton of shelf space.

There's a local store that stocks it here, too (Games n Stuff). It looks pretty good on the shelves, it's just always a bit of a battle to see which games get adopted locally (and thus get continued support from the store) and which don't as much.

This same store sells Deep Wars and some other interesting lines, though, so I'm hopeful they'll continue to have room for WoK, as I'd very much like to be able to pick up some models locally.

On that note, did Ephrimaki , the Deepcaller Lord, get generally released yet?

I agree it is probably better for local stores to carry things for a game to get popular, but I wonder how much popularity a game needs before that happens, and whether WoK is likely to ever hit that point. Then again, I am not exactly blessed with lots of good game stores around, so I expect to buy pretty much everyone online no matter what happens. Different parts of the country probably have very different expectations!

Our will generally do a small order if people start showing interest or if they see people playing it and someone offers to run a demo day. But we have like 9 games stores in a relatively close area and a pretty big community that's willing to give new games a shot. And so far Wrath is doing pretty well in our area and if it keeps going I expect it to grow pretty well since one of our larger stores is stocking it.

The Union Worker is really impressive. I do appreciate that Bannerman as well, although the base is a fair bit past excessive. I really like the color on Heska as well, although maybe not all together. I am rather fond of the "studio" colors for Nasier, but I best that guys Hadross rock!

Awesome, it's a blast. Rules are simple but the game play has a lot of depth. And you have a skirmish level game right out of the starters.

Here are some not so great photos of some of the conversions I have done with WoK minis. I hate steampunk with a burning passion, so I decided to try to make the Teknes workers look more generic fantasy, and give some more variation since there are only 3 union linemen sculpts. I heated up the sculpts in front of a little room heater, and then just chopped off the offending random steampunk bits, and sculpted on little pouches and packs.
Up first is a simple sword swap and addition of a shield

On the next lady I just added a bow and a quiver. (I later turned her head so it is looking over her left shoulder as well).

When I took the pictures the men weren't really finished. But they are currently primed in black, and far to difficult for my poor photography skills to capture. I will post up some images when I finish painting them. These are just a couple of added helmets, a head swap, and a torso angle change.

And finally, since some of them simply can't be saved from steampunkery, I decided I would make a band of pulp/steampunk ancient evil/cthulhu hunters clad in the impressive (yet prone to failure in critical moments) S-450 class steam armor.
Up first is a dour old librarian known as "Mrs. Krilwich" It doesn't matter how bleak the circumstances, it is wise to watch your tongue around Mrs. Krilwich, or you may end up another stain on her enormous hammer.
(shown next to the original sculpt to show conversion)

Next up is Patty Malone,a quiet man. A buckler, a brace of pistols, and a cigar against the terrors of the night.

I've since made a couple other conversions. I'll share more if there is any interest.

When heated to very high temperatures, the material is very pleasant to work with for conversions. Just be careful not to include any of the abs/hips plastic swords or weapons when you heat them up or you will melt those pieces a little before the PVC becomes pliable and slice-able.
