Preparing a list to run against Eldar. Last time I was ill-prepared to handle the sheer mobility wave serpents and jet bikes bring to the table. The wraith guard were a pain too. After opening a thread http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/546425.page#5954678, I'm rearranging my list.

HQ
Rune Priest
Rune Armor

Rune Priest
Rune Armor

Elites
Wolf Guard Pack
Meltabomb
4x Combi-melta
Power Fist
Drop Pod

Troops
10x Grey Hunters
Powerfist
2x Flamer
Drop Pod

10x Grey Hunters
Powerfist
2x Flamer
Drop Pod

Heavy Support
5x Long Fangs
2x missile
2x Heavy Bolter

Fast Attack
3x Thunderwolf Cavalry
3x Storm Shields

Unless I've failed at math, that hits 1250 exactly.

My own concerns:
I've not used drop pods before, so I'm not really sure the best way to go about them. Should I throw the Long fangs in a pod instead and leave a Grey Hunter squad on the board? I think my big concern is about going second and getting the cavalry and whomever else obliterated before I have a chance to drop my pods.

I also haven't decided what to give my Rune Priests. One guy usually rocks Divination, and the other gets lightning and Jaws, but Jaws is useless against Eldar who laugh at initiative checks.

Questions/comments/improvements?

These are great HQ choices, but you need to make them different as per the 'leaders of the pack' rule. Throw a WTT on one or give one a COTS.

Elites
Wolf Guard Pack
Meltabomb
4x Combi-melta
Power Fist
Drop Pod

looks good, 4x Combi-melta can kill most things with AV, and can also be great for anti-MC.

Troops

Powerfist
2x Flamer
Drop Pod

I would drop the PF, as you don't get that many attacks with GH. Other than that, good to go.

Heavy Support
5x Long Fangs
2x missile
2x Heavy Bolter

looks ok, I would personally take 4x ML in a TAC list, but if you're fighting eldar the HB are good.

Fast Attack
3x Thunderwolf Cavalry
3x Storm Shields

You really don't need three SS here, one is probably enough, and the points are better spent elsewhere. Upgrade the LF ML to Lascannons or get some melta/plasma for the GH.

The general advice I give for DP marines of any kind is to pick an area and drop everything you can on it, focusing the force on one point of the enemy line. Spread out, and you'll be divided and conquered, stay as a pack and you will succeed. You can afford to be agressive with the pods, as you will only mishap if you go off the board.

You should be able to deploy the TWC out of LOS if you have enough terrain, keeping them safe, and drop pods can also make good cover if used well.

For the RP, I would say one with Divination, and the other should have Probably LL and Storm caller, as the cover is useful against bladestorm weapons.

Hope that helps.

Another piece of advice I got was swapping something out to squeeze in a wolf lord on thunderwolf mount to ride with the cavalry. Any opinions?

To be honest, a TW lord is just too many points at this level, you'd be better off with what you have. At 1500+, the TW lord becomes a good idea, but here it's just too expensive for my taste.

The Twilight Zone

I think so long as the priests have different powers your fine. Storm caller is nice for the protection, and LL is critical. Murderous hurricane is also decent for killing mass eldar infantry. Remember though, eldar will have psykers that are higher level than yours so some units will be able to negate the offensive psychic stuff. The best things your priests bring at the runic weapons to shut down powers in a 2' bubble. If the eldar player is reliant on buffs working, you can stop them. Because of your deny stick, consider terminator over runic, as bladestorm weapons will kill your priest fast.

I second your power fists being overkill. GH have very few attacks, and there is very little eldar bring that warrant the use of them. A Wraithlord or knight, maybe the avatar. Everything else can be handled with melee and krak grenades. Take mark of the wulfen, as it adds more attacks and can rend, giving you the damage you need. It is also much cheaper allowing you to put points into more guns.

The GH look good, but 2 squads with flamers is overkill. You need some heavier guns for wraithguard, bikes and serpents. Make one of the squads double plas. Also remember, if you pod into the rear arc of a serpent sheer bolter dakka can drop it. Double tap bolters, throw a grenade and use your special weapons. Should get a couple glances through maybe even a pin. The cover save is a pain, but it is an option. Remember your pods have storm bolters too!

Don't put the fangs in a pod. You want them on the ground shooting. The priest can tank fire, and if you deploy right they should be OK.

The thunderwolves are great, but 3 shields is probably overkill. 2 tops. If you want a wolf lord, they are expensive like dental work, but dead lethal. Once the wolves hit the line, you can even split the unit if you need. At this low points level you are pushing for a lord on a thunderwolf, combined with a storm shield and runic. One way to keep cost down is to not take a weapon and just use rending from the mount.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.
