Drop pods w/ marines come in turn 1 libbys go with the cmd squad and split off from there giving 4++ to as many marines as possible, speeders zoom up and receive cover(or deep strike), Preds/Dreads chill in the back field and pick off armour(if any) if not they shoot everything up. LOTS & LOTS of DAKKA!

Does anyone think this will work?
I was torn bewteen using Vindicators over preds but thinking about it making someone roll more(30 points cheaper) vs a template that can scatter seems more valuable to me.

Would Melta Guns not be better than a Multimelta for Drop Pod squads?

You'll be snap-firing a Multimelta the turn you arrive, and any time you want to move. No such worries with a melta gun, and you should still be in melta range.

Can't see the Dreads you mentioned on the list.

They wont be close enough to shoot the melta guns, and for the same price MM is good because quite frankly they wont move intill turn 4 to gain objectives if need be,with the amount of dakka i have hopefully the oppent wont be alive that late.

Not so sure why you would want to drop pod your command squad, it is only 5 gives + your libby, and they don't really bring anything but 5 or 10 boltgun attacks.

If you want lots of dakka, perhaps you should consider DA and banner of devastation, it makes all boltguns salvo 2/4 (2 attacks when moving, 4 attacks if standing still).

With 3 tactical squads within 6" of the banner, it will result in 120 bolter shots.

Also, if you give the banner to a command squad, you get potentially 20 more shots.

I would like to see a tyranid or ork army advance into that

They have it, just forget to put it on the list when typed it out, but yes they have it.

Was thinking instead of dreads/preds running vindis with a Techmarine + PFG to run with the speeders giving me 2 areas of nastyness. Just idk where i would find the points lol.

Hmm, it seems like you are putting 12 out of your 17 units into reserves, which would be illegal.

I recall we had the same discussion about my army list

Melta guns would be better. At least you could fire them with snap shots. Dump the Command squad, chances are tou're not going to be close enough to anyone to make salvo work, much less be standing still to take advantage of Salvo. If you think these guys are just going to be allowed to stand arouns for 3 turns, you haven't played against Tau or IG.

drop pods, mycetis spores and transport fliers have to be in reserves, so don't count to the limit.

That's what the PFGS are for, all 30 marines will have a 3/4++ I could change them to melta guns or find 15 points for plasma, but ya the dakka banner is apart of the list I was actually thinking of dropping all the armour and making everything foot slog but idk. but whats the point of 30 marines without the dakka banner it wouldn't make sense.

I could play them more aggressive and drop the armour and go for either RWBK or a large squad of DWK

Or go through every other codex and find some good allies

Power Field Generators don't work against massed infantry fire which is how you kill marines, especially one with a invuln save.

You rely on those drop pods to be in range of each other too much, that's why I'd suggest dropping the command squad. for that, you could.slide in another tactical squad and buy lascannons for the predators.
